What they do not tell you is that in the very early 20 century the location of the building was part of San Francisco bay. After the great quake they tossed all the rumble into the bay thus drying it up. The builder of this building built on top of all that landfill. They needed to get to bedrock which they did not do. They say bedrock is 91 meters (300 feet) down.
Truly? That is pretty frightening news indeed...surely the problem has been recognized by the city though, yes?
The city knows there is a problem but its up to the owner of the building to solve it. It seems they rather not tear it down and rebuild since they will most likely take a huge financial hit.
