In a multiplayer game of EU4, I'm the Papal States, with someone as Poland and another person as the Ottomans.. Poland became Papal controller, and went on a crusade against the Ottomans. I was annoyed, so didn't join the crusade and just sent the Ottomans gifts to annoy Poland

Reading about the history of Cham Pa, I've been inspired to do a playthrough of Champa in EU IV. Hopefully I can reverse the decline of the kingdom.

I wonder (though kind of doubt) whether Paradox has gone through the effort to maintain and represent the kingdom's maritime and trading culture.

Edit: a fast look at the traditions and ideas shows that the Champa have a stretegy focused around naval power, specifically light ships.

Can someone tell me about naval warfare and how trade works?

If your in a sea like the mediterranian, use galleys
If your in the oceans, use carracks.
Trade: Build Barques, use them to protect your trade

Don't bother with galleys unless you plan on fighting china any time soon. Most SE Asian waters are considered open sea, so galleys are not important. Keep a good combination of trade ships and transports and maybe a small handull of heavies if you can afford. Trade ships are the most important in early game
