I just had the worst game of eu4 ever, got peasants war and got called into a fucking war by Aragon fighting England, france, austria etc.. and fucking grandian nationalists and well i just gave up because I lost my entire army and had a god damn single unit of cavalry

I haven't played huge amounts of EUIV since Rights of Man came out, but I'm thinking that outside of Europe it would be well worth developing the fuck out of(or into, I suppose) a province to get the Renaissance. From India you could probably get an Aussie colonial nation for colonialism easily enough. Haven't played long enough to see much of the others. My attempts to Choson One keep fucking up within a century or so.

Actually, Colonialism doesn't even require you to have any active colonies at all. All you need to do is discover the New World.

Well, you have to get QftNW in order to spawn the institution yourself. So odds are you're going to be committing to a colonial game no matter what. I imagine another reason why only discovery is necessary is to account for any crazy stuff going on in Europe that would occupy the typical colonialists' time. And if you play with the RNW, there's actually a pretty decent chance of rolling an RNW that's really far from Europe. It's all about making sure Colonialism pops roughly around the year 1500.

I think Igoria was saying that it was their first playthrough that was neither a European nor a Middle-Eastern faction.

That said, not everyone in the Middle-East is an Arab.
