Well it's much less buggy then say a Bethesda game.

I see less buggy games out of companies that don't have too many employees, aren't tethered to a big company, and usually make better games and make them cheaper....

If any of you are interested in a story-based atmospheric prototype game, you might try Cultist Simulator. It's currently a very early prototype, so don't expect graphics or anything, but it's pretty interesting so far.

News flash overhyping a game leads it to ruin and disappointment.

That was always going to be a struggle. Were Obsidian involved in any way? I know Todd Howard was a leading figure in 4 like 3.

Did you watch the video I linked a while back, which was a critique of Fallout 3 relative to Fallout 1 and 2?

The original mod is a blast with friends, and a strangely meditative experience on your own, often punctuated with intense anger.

Standalone will never be finished, and is currently a complete waste of money. It can be improved with friends, but it's still a glitchy mess of a framework of a game.

Imperializt Russia wrote:What did Fallout 4 fail to deliver contrary to the hype?

It lacks the depth that New Vegas had. It felt like a watered down experience. I appreciate the effort to improve the shooting, and it is better than the previous games in that regard, but it feels like Bethesda cut way too many of the good features from NV to make it more "user friendly". The dialogue wheel is just a bizarre inclusion, and the overall story barely holds a candle to New Vegas, which was excellent. NV's story had actual depth to it, and you could spend a lot of time thinking about the different factions, and everyone was wrong to some extent.

In F4, the Brotherhood are just bastards, the Minutemen are the objective good guys, the Railroad are useless, and the Institute is so comically evil it's depressing.

Bethesda has been really lacking in story for their Fallout games. Fallout 4 feels like a good framework for a much better Fallout game, preferably made by Obsidian, who actually seem to know how to make something other than Elder Scrolls games with guns.

Is the mod "free" if you have Arma 2, and the Standalone is what is available for sale from Steam Early Access?

The Mod is technically free, but you need a few of the expansions for Arma 2 before you can play it, plus the launcher. It's annoying as fuck to set up, but there's plenty of servers still running.

Standalone still costs 35-bum-fucking-dollars still for what is essentially a Beta that will never be finished.

It's almost as bad as No Man's Sky, except in DayZ, you can actually run into other players. And you don't have to mine resources. And there's actual tension. And it's not sixty fucking dollars for a bullshit "exploration" simulator with more training wheels than should be realistically possible.

At least in Standalone, you can handcuff people and force feed them rotten food until they die.

Me and another guy run around telling people about the All-Union Communist Party and how that the "End of the World" has been anything but that, as it has only done to clean the slate for the Worker's Revolution to surge ahead once again and retake the former glory of the Chernarussian SSR and the Greater Soviet Union itself back from the Bourgeois.

We also speak against a group of Chernarussian Communists who are filthy revisionists and even worse, Trotskyists who have only soiled the name of Communism as a whole.

Either Final Fantasy IX had far less random encounters than I remembered, or they toned them down for the Steam port.

Ah, FFIX.

A game that I did not have the patience for as a child.
Also my first multiple-disc game, coming on four CDs for the PS1.

Honestly, I'd be more willing to get it if it was $30, but even then, I'm thinking more $15 at this rate.

But right now I'm trying to conserve for a $300 graphics card.

Me it hooked quite good.
Despite the fact that lack in understanding in English provided some extra hurdles for getting forward. :P

I had very little patience for games with any sort of mechanics beyond "point at the thing and shoot at the thing" as a child.
The only Pokemon game I ever owned was Pokemon Yellow. I did not get very far through the game, I realised when I found it again several years later.

I realised that Pikachu's Thunder attack was very powerful.
So I only used Pikachu's Thunder attack.
I had like a lvl38 Pikachu and nothing else.
