Yes. The single-player gets boring pretty fast. And also incredible hard if you don't have NPCs as meatshields running around. Enemies can see through trees and other small obstacles.

I take it that the same applies to Arma II for PS3?

Maybe try engaging with the world a little bit? I get the feeling that thats what the entire game is about. Exploring is boring if it's not your thing sure but they have been completely upfront about the fact that the entire point of the game is exploring. The lack of buildings is potentially a problem sure but that is getting remedied in the next update.

Regarding caves. What I haven't seen yet are actually deep caves that go several kilometres below the ground.
Those were always fun in Minecraft/Terraria/Starbound.

How do you even engage with the world? There is literally nothing to do on them except gather resources.

Imperializt Russia wrote:You can't land on a gas giant, so what would be the point?

The point is there's no variety in planets besides different biomes. Not actual planet types.

Except none of that shit even matters and it's super shallow. All you do is walk up to these guys and spam the square button until they give you a blueprint for something you already know how to make, or give you a new waypoint that leads to another npc who wants to give you a blueprint for something you already know how to make.

I think it's probably designed with a similar mindset to say, the X series before it got shit, you create your own meaning to your playthrough, it's not everyone's cup of tea for sure but It's the type of game I generally like.

The only thing I heard so far from my dads friend is that it was "everything he wanted and expected it to be", aka a lot of it is exactly what it was advertised as, and people are complaining about that.

That being said though, from what I see above, there does sound like there are legitimate problems that go beyond "Exactly how advertised", but some of it seems to be like "Oh, all there is to do is explore!", even though that's pretty much EXACTLY what it was being advertised as.

Again though, even with this, and I love mindless exploration (Seriously, I spend games like Grand Theft Auto V exploring for hours instead of actually doing anything in the beginning, always), none of that was EVER worth $60 to me. I wanna play it but I'll wait for a while, especially with all of these things I have already.

What, No Man's Sky? He did an episode on it already.

He did an episode or two on the pre-emptive backlash, one of them months ago, and he's done a Jimpressions.

I don't think he's quite railed against the hype train (aside Overwatch) for a while, so maybe he will use it for Monday's episode.
