Cold War was a classic. The only one that's not a dicking around simulator.

Not that that's bad.

Also you're pushing on a Moving the Goalposts.

Dude cold war or OFP as it was back in the day was absolutly a ducking around simulator. The first thing people did with the multiplayer was set up tractor racing events...

God I remember some of the stuff I used to do with ye olde setpos command until one of patches royally messed that bit up.

It's the only thing I've ever even tried to use text commands and scripts with.

Of course it's helo handling was really nice and forgiving so I could pull off stunts in the hind that would crash the little bird in the later ARMA games.

Admittedly I'm still going through that game. I'm on the level where you have to walk miles through Soviet controlled territory by yourself.

See if a soldier pulled that off in real life they'd get a Medal of Honor, but like other FPS games ARMA asks you to do stuff like that all the time.

"Walk miles through enemy territory" is rather basic requirements of soldiering. That's the basic job description.

By yourself. Outnumbered 100 to 1. Your evac is any boat you can find.

Also it's a video game so of course the enemies just happen to wander near you at all times.

You mean the level were you are captured an suppose to escape?

That's not being a Rambo, I'm pretty sure it's happened plenty of times.

Watching an LP of World in Conflict.

It seems like you destroy several regiments worth of infantry, armor and vehicles every single mission.

Yes

I don't even think a Soviet Army battlegroup would have that many tanks to just throw at a small town on the west coast.

Well, if you'd gone to the trouble of sending paratroopers to secure it ahead, and the only significant US resistance in the area was trying to take it back so they could fortify it ahead of your advance, you probably would.

No not that one. I think it's possible to avoid the level and play a different one instead if you do certain things.

Your squad is wiped out and you're supposed to make it to the evac point.

Anyone running a VR rig here? I finally purchased my htc vive a couple of weeks ago and after a shaky start i've found an amazing game by the name of space pirate trainer. Think arcade shooter but of course in vr and the htc vive lets you actually move around the world leading to literally dodging bullets. I was a little worried after i first bought it that no one had really nailed a good game in vr yet but boy was i wrong.

Did the Soviet Army even have that many T-80's, T-62's (For some reason they don't use the T-72 even through it's 1989) BMP-2s, PT-76's and helicopters to send? Let alone in one battlegroup.

I think all the zombie games in VR are completely missing a trick for effective "horror" in VR.

Shoot the things that are really there!!! is about as gimmicky as VR can possibly get, and shoot-the-thing gameplay, especially with zombies, is tiiiiirreeedddddd.

VR's true application in horror is surely a way of enhancing the use of psychological tricks and methods to immerse and increase the "horror" element of a "puzzle" or survival game.

Its not a zombie game, your shooting drones coming at you and they come at you from all over which requires you to utilise the space. I've never been a fan of horror games or horror movies for that matter. So i couldnt really say what would make one great in vr.

I don't understand why people put stealth missions in strategy games based around have battles, not stealth.

Cruel, cruel people do that.

Except XCOM 2. They did stealth in a strategy game well. Except may naps for the timer.

Ground Control 2 had a stealth mission of sorts. In fact i believe it had 2.

I know. I'm playing it right now.

Unit selection is very awkward (as it seems I have to press them a few times for it to select) and I feel that units just randomly decide they don't want to follow your orders.
