shh, it still annoys me that T-60 is a thing to begin with.
Also, when a single leader decides the majority of your policies, it's hardly surprising that rapid changes in ideology are possible. After all, Lyons wasn't exactly in line with the West Coast's BoS chapters' beliefs, and the East Coast BoS in general always struck me as a more fluid and adaptable organization than their West Coast equivalents.
edit: also like half of the knights you see in game don't even have power armour :/

I mean if a little tittle tattle in 2077 hadn't happened, yeah I could see that being a valid point.
These mortars are literally the best mechanical achievement anyone has been able to accomplish. Capable and accurate artillery is hard to produce even today. The artillery the Minutemen produce and use in great effect has a circular error probability (CEP) of less than 100 meters all the time. Even current modern artillery guns such as the M777 score around 50-200 meters of CEP, depending on conditions. The only artillery systems that produce a CEP near this are the M114s seen in New Vegas and the MLRS used by the Enclave of which both are prewar in design. The M114s have the advantage of already pre-plotted and know where their enemy is going to be.
Along with this, we see that the mortars of all of a standard design, which was something that was only partially true until the industrial revolution, when parts could be produced the same way in large numbers. These mortars have a solid concrete base, which has the ability to traverse their guns 360 degrees around and seem to have a good degree of elevation as well. In this, the guns also have some kind of striker design instead of a fuse system which canon of the mid-19th century had.
In this, we come to the cartridges. Semi-fixed cartridges, in which the shell (Which is of a high-explosive fragmenting design, again something that not everyone can just produce) is loaded after the charge is. The charge is loaded separately before the shell is. These shells have a primer on the base of the cartridge. This is evident in the rate of fire and that there is now fuse system on the gun.
Then, we come to the FO/FDC system. By simply throwing a smoke grenade, you get highly accurate, properly timed, and highly effective (If you throw your smoke right) artillery. This means that the FDC is on fucking point. No need for corrective shots is fucking outstanding.
The only people who have done achievements near this are the Brotherhood, but airships don't clear ground, they just sit to allow for ADA to engage them. The Institute doesn't count, as they have been working for allot longer than the Minutemen artillerymen.

tbh the hyperspace airship is kind of annoying, I could easily believe it holds enough to lift all the power armour the brotherhood needs, but to do that plus lift in liberty prime, who is p. much half the size of their airship and made of something significantly heavier than hot air? Yeah, that's not happening.
I kind of figured they have to be doing some kind of supply relay, hence why they set up at the airport and not wherever they damn well felt like because :airship:.

Yes but thats because they brought an airship which holds like -5 suits if power armor but apparently its supposed to sustain hundreds of personnel thought a sustained campaign.
It'd be cooler if Boston Airport had massive tiltwing aircraft airlifting supplies and manpower to Boston from Adams AFB.
Imagine this but with 100000 guys in T-60 power armor and literally airdropping Liberty Prime w/ the bomb from Megaton to drop it onto CIT and nuclear detonate down into the Institute.
I'd side with them then.

That doesn't sound cool at all. Gauss rifle is a lame one-shit rifle. Might as well be sniping radroaches.

It is technically marked as a settlement, fun fact.
Also, I can't actually find the Railroad.

Gatling laser is dumb and only kills stuff at the cost of half a fusion core.
Gauss rifle, on the other hand, cuts through power armor like cheap construction paper. Gauss is love.
