So, two things happened. I found the Super Mutants at Jacobstown, and confronted Chief Hanlon about "what he'd done".

my gooddddddddd, the writing.

We need a child custody lawsuit to force Bethesda to leave all writing of FALLOVT to Obsidian and Josh Sawyer :(

I finally got the quest order in my notes for the BoS play through of Fallout 4. I think- I do at least. I'm not sure how it'll go- and am not yet ready to get it underway- but it's progress. I'm not ready since it's outside my comfort zone. I'm curious about the kind of character this will turn out to be- to discover this.

I am aware of a divergence- two roads- one kills the only BoS companion in the game, the other spares him but upsets the established order.

Such is the current factor I am pondering- as Danse is the only reason I'm thinking of doing this play through but sparing him despite his request to be destroyed would go against the order- alright- I guess that's it then. I can't have a BoS playthrough if I go against the order- that'd be like- taking part in a political RP and 'reforming' the Nationalist Party. If I am to experience the BoS way of life I must, as Danse killed his friend, kill Danse. SEMPER VERUM!

Edit: This is going to be one lonely play through so I should make plans to obtain the Lone Wonderer perk. That's the side effect of killing sentient life- you run low on people to talk to and talking is the bulk of my typical play through. It's so different- that I'll need to prepare myself. Like in my mind I'm reminding myself that I don't like BoS in Fallout 4 but also don't like any other faction companion but Danse- not X9, Deacon, ... well I like Garvey. I like Garvey and Danse but the Minutemen-Brotherhood ending was cut from the game and I do want to destroy the Railroad. The Minutemen-Brotherhood ending was cut as their is apparently no way to convince the Minutemen that the Railroad must go (seeing how Sturges is a Synth likely rescued by them but such is never spoken of in game to give any indication that Garvey is aware of this. Since Sturges doesn't even know it doesn't seem far fetched that no one knows and thus that one could still have a Brotherhood-Minutemen ending- with some irony as it's a bit tragic in ways Sturges isn't even aware of due to his memory wipe via the Railroad- utter tragedy in that regards. Wouldn't that have been something? To do a Brotherhood-Minutemen ending in which it's revealed that Sturges is a Synth and the player must decide between aiding Sturges- which Garvey will want- or turning him over to the Brotherhood- something Garvey will not like as Sturges is a friend of his and he looks after his friends).

Edit: I imagine that one way to convince the Minutemen is via what happened to Libertalia- a Railroad rescued Synth became a Raider Boss. Convincing them that mind wiped rogue Synths are a danger to the commonwealth would be one way I think.

Anyone else hear about fallout: project brazil being unveiled with its true title, New California?
Looks pretty cool. I never played the project brazil mod, but I'll definitely give it a shot once its finally finished as New California.

XD hahah When I first encountered Covenant I thought the entire population where Synths who escaped the Institute but not with the Railroads aid and had built the town in their image of 'normality'. I got this- Stepford Wives impression from the settlement. I was actually disappointed that such isn't the case. I would have liked to help the Synths with their model settlement as I had taken the SAFE test to simply be a way to keep the rabble out- that was before the quest and the second time around with speech checks. I would have been fine with it being an Institute project even due to Mayor McDoughnah's personality (If I spelled that right).

Edit: Though I think that was the point- the people are not Synths but could be mistaken for them- thus showing both the strength of the SAFE test along with the fact that one can't judge if another is a Synth easily. Thus expressing the great need for a scientific method of determination.

Ug, my Technophobia is acting up (I am one of those people with a curiosity and passion for technology but a fear of it's potential misuse).

Nate won't live for ever, and you can't trust who will next lead the Institute- yes you appoint them but not the next or the next. They are too advanced, and are already letting technology get out of control (Why couldn't you just build a ROOMBRA?)

I still don't want to nuke them though (evacuation order doesn't save everyone, as Li and Virgil will tell you, innocence will die regardless of you giving warning ahead of time).

Plus it means betraying Shaun who is very similar to myself in real life and has done great things. I like Shaun, and I like Garvey- and the two factions can co-exist.

I guess I should man up- you can't control what happens when your gone but you can manage the present to inspire the future. Ceasing production of Synths I feel would just seam a hindering of science. Thus I'd go the route of using them to populate the surface and guide it's people. They are after all, from an in character perspective, my grandchildren- as such I want the best for them. Their children will be Human- it's what I hope for.

Captain Avery of Far Harbour ages though doesn't she? I think the residents would have noticed if she hadn't since she'd been "installed" there for some considerable time.

In reality, fallout is protected against by shutting your doors and windows, and if you have to go outside, minimising exposure, using a broom and wearing several layers if a radiation suit is not to hand.

Unless you live in an area downwind of a direct hit, most areas will receive sufficiently low doses that 16 weeks after the blast, people will be able to spend 16 hour days outside of shelter without ill effects.
I actually pointed this out once in an anti-nuclear comment thread, and people said that was horrible - but just think how often you spend 16 hours of a day outside of some kind of shelter whether home, work, school or a car. I suspect it's never.

So while I did buy Fallout NV on sale on X360, I didn't buy any of the DLCs and didn't realise the Steam sale would only be on for a couple days so missed buying it there.

Given how utterly trash the UI sadly is and various other issues, I'm seriously considering plumping the 15 quid for the GOTY edition on Steam. I assume there are basic mods that allow you to sort the inventory tabs and disable carry weight limits.
Oh, and more weapon mods.
I waited all the way until I got to the Gun Runners shack (40 hours of gameplay by the by, according to the save timer) before finding out the Service Rifle and Plasma Rifle don't even get optics (Service Rifle did but was apparently cut from the base game?) and the unique AER14 Laser Rifle can't accept the Laser Rifle scope.

I moved all my stuff from Goodsprings to Novac when I got the apartment there and that took a good 3 trips even with two companions; I'm halfway through moving my junk to The Strip now I have the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite but only realised halfway through that you can't fast travel directly to the bloody thing due to the Strip gate. No idea why the game is set up this way since I've clearly already gained access to the Strip.

The inflexibility with Campfires and how they don't seem to be anywhere near a place you will live is also pretty annoying.

Perhaps they all failed a spot check.
Synths don't age.

It's hard to tell because nobody in-game ages. Except Shaun. And that takes some scripted events.

But if we assume that human-looking beings in fo4 are either humans or synths.
We also assume synths don't age and humans do.
We note that nobody in-game actually visibly ages. Therefore they all must be synths.

Or it's because Bethesda didn't implement aging in their engine. But I like the everyone is a synth theory more.

GOTY edition on steam is worth it. Project Nevada has an optional inventory sorter, and you can directly modify your carry weight using the console. Project Nevada and the Weapon Mod Menu both make the weapon mod system much more sensible. Lucky 38 a shit, but on the PC you can DL a player home or several if you'd like.

I don't expect the characters to age in the game because it doesn't have a method for characters to reproduce- as in it's not the Sims. Skyrim is the same way- you can find your self in the next era and no one will have aged.

Turrets, such as those found in some Raider Camps and Gunner Fortifications carry 5.56 ammo. Some venders also have the ammo in stock from time to time.

One of the DLCs adds "electric hot plates" that act as Campfires, but from the wiki, it seems as though they're just "more campfires" in that they are still fixed-position world objects, not items.

I don't imagine it'd be impossible to create an "item" that when "used" sets down a "campfire" in modding, but I don't know what elements of the game engine this requires fiddling with obviously. Like a 10-15lbs "campfire kit" that you carry around and just spawns a campfire while it's open. Or even, just opens the campfire menu and "makes" things, even.
