It's a minigun that does an additional 15 points of fire damage.
The vanilla minigun does 8 damage. The Ashmaker does a total of 23.
Because sometimes even national leaders just want to hang out

Did I mention how, at level 3, I fended off some 20 Feral Ghouls, two turrets, and a power-armored raider while triggering mines? With only a 10mm pistol?
As a level 20, one of my go-to weapons is a heavily modded 10mm pistol. I call it "The Ripper" and primarily use it to deal with things like Legendary Bandits, Beasts, or Ghouls.
28 per-shot damage, 141 fire rate.

I've got a legendary (extra +50 radiation damage) heavily modded 9mm with silencer for low-level one-shot kills. Kellog's .44 magnum for stronger targets. A modded legendary (with increased fire rate and reload speed) hunting rifle with long-range scope. Finally, there's a legendary (more critical damage) modded laser rifle for lots of dakka and a rocket launcher for even more dakka.
I do wear power armour 24/7, as a proper BoS Paladin out in the field.

I've got a similar Rad/Dam Submachine Gun [The one that looks like the Thompson SMG], but I only use it when I'm trying to be quiet, since I've suppressed it. My standard weapon is a fully upgraded Hunting Rifle [Composite Receiver, Long Barrel, Long Scope, Compensator, etc.] that does massive single-shot .308 damage, but I'm looking to upgrade the receiver to a .50.
I have Kellogg's Revolver as well, but I find that the scarcity of the .44 ammunition [At least, at my level.] limits its use.
When I'm in close quarters, I either use a Double Barrel with a long barrel and stock, or when the situation arises, a fully-automatic Pipe Rifle with a bayonet, since I have 1,500 .38 rounds on me, the spray n' pray 19 damage per shot can be extremely effective against things like Ghoul packs, low-level Synths and Raiders. And yet I refuse to donate more than 10 to each of Sanctuary's armed guards :P

I've saved up about 5000 caps right about now. Working alongside mortal power-armoured BoS Knights has its advantages.
That said, vendor prices are shiiiiit. Get 50 caps for something they ask 500 for.
