Also, shame on you, Dr. Li. I wanted some good FO3 references from you!

I, too, was disappointed by the lack of references.

Still wish you coulda captured it for the Minutemen or something. Rename it the CMS Freedum!

That would have been neat.
I wanted to capture it for myself and use it as a sort of settlement, but I guess there are limits to what shenanigans are allowed. Clearing out an entire base of knights and paladins would be pretty absurd.

New Frenco Empire wrote:I mean, from a progression standpoint, there's no denying Fallout 4 is probably the best one. It brings so much new life to the series that it makes NV look like a withered skeleton in comparison.

If Obsidian follows up with another game using Fallout 4's formula, though...

On-topic - now that everyone's used to it, what are your final opinions on the voiced protagonist? As someone who was skeptical at first, I've actually grown to love it. Not sure why. I guess it just helps with making the world seem that much more alive. Everytime I pick a lock and my character mutters "sweet" or "nice" to herself, I just smile.

Pretty much this. The voice acting has me actually listening to dialogue, rather than rapid fire clicking through it like I did in NV and 3. Well, mostly. There was the occasional quest I cared enough about to listen through.

It just occurred to me that visiting this thread, what with all the spoilers, must be like tip-toeing through a minefield. :p

My forts aren't anything fancy, Sanctuary hills is easily my most heavily defended but ive not really been going all out on the settlement building. For my next character though i plan on going all out on it and building fortresses everywhere, believe ill also play a female character next as well and see what that character's actress is like.

I'm hoping mods will make settlement building MUCH easier, because right now it's super fucking annoying in my opinion. I'm hoping for menus to be able to tell people what to do instead of having to run to them and do it. Also an automatic grid when laying down things like walls, or especially food.

It weirded me out a bit at first, not being used to hearing a protagonist in Fallout. I was actually convinced it was beneficial the first time I picked a lock and muttered 'nice' under my breath only to hear the character say the exact same thing a moment later. I knew me and the voice actor for female vault-dweller were going to get along fine after that (the 'sarcastic' option in dialogue helped as well).

I like that the player character can speak, it did not bother me at all when it was announced and thought it was a cool idea, and i think its been really good so far, the male voice actor is quite good and its nice, as others have said to hear your character say things like "nice" and "sweet" when you pick a lock or something similar, so yeah big positive in my books

Also i was just talking to this guy at a place called Finch Farm, and a vertibird suicided into a bridge not that far in the distance, a giant fire ball near engulfed the farm and no one seems to care.

So i was fighting a group of raiders called the forged (obsessed with fire) and i found this list of people who "failed the forge" and just look at some of this madness:

YANCEY
Refused to change name
Fed to Forge

DUKE
Died without permission during Second Trial
Fed to Forge

HOOD
Caught stealing rations
Fed molten iron

RIPTIDE
Cried during final trial
Fed to forge

These guys are fucking mental, they even flayed a guy for giving meds to the enemy, the Boltons would love this.

This is the only thing that genuinely bothers me. The Vertibird's AI is so derpy. I'll be taking a walk through near Boston and see three or four of the damn things before the day's out, and at least two will suicide into a building or tall tree because they're trying so hard to get a firing line on the muties.

The first two are fantastic; Yancey was fed to the fire for not changing his name, and Duke "died without permission".

Literally how I would run a group of Bandits
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

Why must Paintwork take the place of something more useful like lead lining on power armour ?

Has anybody gotten into the Medtek Research Facility's airlock? I can't find the key/password for the terminal. A brief research quest pointed me to the building to the South-East with the dead BoS guys, but I turned up nothing, unless it's in the one safe there that I can't pick yet.

My biggest concern with a voiced protagonist was that it might end up causing there to be less dialogue over all, but as that isn't true I'm loving it.

Slaughtering level 1-5 raiders as a level 49 with a combat rifle is one of the most hilarious and one sided things i have ever seen.

Im literally just walking around and one shotting them as part of the settlement missions to deal with different threats.

Well technically i did move at first and fired off a few shots as i moved for cover, then i saw the suiciders coming around a corner and realized i was surrounded with no way of moving, so i stood there and accepted my fate rifle in hand.

As a level 20, one of my go-to weapons is a heavily modded 10mm pistol. I call it "The Ripper" and primarily use it to deal with things like Legendary Bandits, Beasts, or Ghouls.

28 per-shot damage, 141 fire rate.
