That's only two steps down....you must have old strings.

I've had strings break just tuning from D to E, even when they were like a week old. It's been at least a year since I've had a string break, but that fear is still there every time I switch tunings.

100bpm * 62 minutes = 6200
6200 beats / 4 = 1550 measures

Not exact of course, and I'm listening to it for the first time as we speak so there may be tempo changes I don't know about, but yeah, probably at least 500.

So...I randomly wrote some song lyrics around four a.m. last night. :p

Now I'm pretty bad at lyrics, but it would be nice to hear some feedback.

Wake up...It's a new day...
Another day of countless tortures...
Your mind has...almost broken...
Your mind is in a hellish place...

Try to stay strong as you, try to survive...another day...
For you are in...the land...of the dead!

[chorus]This place has taken ahold of you!
Try to find a way out!
Don't despair! This world is just a mere illusion!
This is all in your head...[/chorus]

Wake up...the end is near...
See the world crumble around you...
You've almost made it out!

(Don't despair!)
(Have no regrets!)

Slight pause.

WAKE UP!!!(I was thinking of a guitar/drum solo after this.)

[chorus]This place has taken ahold of you! (Break the hold!)
Try to find a way out!
Don't despair! This world is just a mere illusion...
This is all in your head! (All in your head...) [/chorus]

Beat on the walls...
Don't lose hope...
For you have almost escaped...
This is the end...

Wake up...[x7; each getting more distant]
I am thou, thou art I. Thou hast acquired a new vow. It shall become the wings of rebellion that breakth thy chains of captivity.
"And now, standing on this mountain of brave corpses, I have quite the view." - Erwin Smith
“You know the difference between me and you? I bleed red and you bleed green.” - Avon Barksdale
Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far?
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go

I don't know if it's my guitar or my strings, but I've never had this problem. I regularly and dramatically shift tunings and never, ever break strings.

Doesn't happen to me anymore, luckily. I think it was my strings because the guitar I use now is the same guitar I used when I still had that problem. I've tuned down my bottom string from F# to D before (which, yes, is really fucking low and unnecessary; just did it out of boredom), and it comes back just fine. I think I've tuned down some strings by seven notes before and they're fine.

Ostenfor and Hoyfjeldsbilde would be my picks, but yeah, folk Ulver is lovely. I wish they would've done more of it.

I often find that folk metal bands are the best at making non-metal songs.

Impaled Nazarene wrote:I need female vocalists to soothe me back to health. reply with links please.

In terms of metal, these come to mind:
Imperanon - "Shadowsouls"
Oh, and I always liked the female parts in "Insanity's Crescendo" and "The Gallery" by Dark Tranquillity.

Or there's always Babes In Toyland, but that's hardly soothing :p

Definitely not bad for a first try! I've really only written one song, and it was a Depressive Black Metal piece for Naz's band.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

1. I'm working a typical shift of 12 hours a day this week so probably won't be on that much for said time.

2. On the earlier topic of older bands, a member of Twisted Sister whose name I don't care to look up said some crap about how any "classic" (whatever his definition means) band is stupid for putting out new music because the fans will only care about the classics. Sure, and Emmure has good music.
