I used to hate the dude's vocals with a passion, but after a while they really grew on me. Besides, the vocals are just an added bonus... the kick-ass riffs are what you come for. Anyway, I haven't listened to a whole lot of Inquisition, but both ODotPMM and OVftM are great. On the other hand; as much as I was hyped for their latest album, it turned out to slightly disappoint me.

I've only listened to ODotPMM and one song, Kill With Hate. I originally heard the latter on radio :p

What would you consider sacred metal commandments?
One I would consider to be a sacred commandment is knowing what your apparel stands for, you know and enjoy the band(s) on your apparel, you are not required to know bs trivia about the band or members to be able to wear their merch, and you don't need a cultural connection to wear it (ie Melechesh, pagan/folk metal bands in general)

There's only one rule of metal. PLAY IT FUCKING LOUD!!!

hint hint nudge nudge, it's a reference to something, those who get it are awesome :p

More serious answer: There are none. Metal is music just like pop and rock.

I don't believe in any "commandments" or crap.

It does bother me though when people wear shirts of bands they don't even listen to just for appearances. Like, my little sister recently bought a Rolling Stones shirt at Urban Outfitters despite not even knowing who Mick Jagger is. I also had a "emo/core/scene kid" friend in high school who occasionally wore a Slayer shirt just because they saw it at Hot Topic.

That said, I might be a slight hypocrite. My first metal shirt was Black Sabbath, but back when I bought it I had only heard the first two albums.

Today starts the most metal week of my life.

Scar Symmetry and Arsis tonight, Cattle Decapitation Friday, (maybe) Carach Angren/Rotting Christ/Marduk this weekend, all capped off by Blind Guardian one week from today.

Got in the mail and just finished listening: The new Allegaeon album Proponent for Sentience is fucking incredible! The production is absolutely phenomenal, Riley McShane is just as good a vocalist as Ezra, the bass is very audible, and the lead work is some of the best I've heard this year. And the Rush cover only makes it better. This band still shows that they "figured out" the way to be very technical but very memorable at the same time. Best songs are the entire Proponent For Sentience trilogy, Gray Matter Mechanics, Of Mind And Matrix, and Cognitive Computations.

God Dethroned used to sound like a mix of Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel and Entombed on their 1992 debut album The Christhunt.

He's the one who's playing Roots beginning to end with his brother and might do the same with some previous Sepultura albums. Would people actually bother if the current lineup of Sepultura did that?
