Mine's The Coma Machine.

I know a bit of them in passing, but I never knew they were that noteworthy (Never listened enough to really have an opinion, I've just heard a bit of them here and there)

Dude, BTBAM is probably my favorite "newer" metal band if you can call them that, right next to Black Dahlia Murder. Not to mention one of my all time favorite bands. Ignore the metalcore tag they sometimes get, that is pretty much exclusive to their first 3 albums and even then it's just for some occasional chugs and the good cop/bad cop vocals.

I can kind of get into Primordial, but there's just something about the singing that I don't really get into all that much. It feels too...I dunno, dramatic?, for my liking.

Primordial are very much a "storytelling" band. Most of their songs tell histories of their Irish ancestors or other ancient tragedies from a first-person perspective. So the vocals are a perfect fit for the feelings they are trying to convey imo. It's often an intensely passionate delivery though, so I see what you're saying.

And the new one comes off as very meh to me...(With exceptions)

The only songs I usually skip is "Perfect Life"

Do you guys ever have bands that you're like, not a huge fan of, but they have a couple of really good songs, so you feel like listening through their albums anyway to "mine" for the good songs throughout their albums?

As an example for me right now, Tengger Cavalry. Not a fan of the album I've heard as a whole, but god damn there are good songs.

Oh, and as a heads up, I probably will be absent for about a week. Not that me disappearing is unusual in here.

I actually agree. I don't think any of their whole albums (that I've heard) are masterpieces, rather they have masterpiece songs spread out over their discography.

But yeah, there are a lot of bands like that. Another that comes to mind is Enslaved.

I love the first three-four of their albums but the rest falls into that category.

Another one that comes to mind is Viikate. Even their best albums are only about 4/5 for me but every album has at least one or two god tier songs in there.

Most deathcore bands (Carnifex, All Shall Perish, and early Whitechapel are the only exceptions for me). Tarja-era Nightwish. Eluveitie. Korpiklaani. In Flames from Reroute to A Sense of Purpose.

Favorite songs: Ghost Love Score, The Islander, Last Ride of the Day

By the way guys that Allegaeon cover of Rush's "Subdivisions" was the wrong mix. Here is the correct version with the guitars actually sounding good.

I don't even think I'm going to buy it. Hell, probably not going to get the biggest bundle deal on the new Opeth since I'm not too excited about it. Digipack works for me. Besides, I already threw $150 down for The Holographic Principle in its ultimate edition.

I'm listening to an Acacia Strain cover of a famous song called, "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden and it sounds really weird especially with the unnecessary screaming vocals in this song. The downtuning gives the song a creepier affect though.

What happened now? :p

I'm a big In Flames fan. Just not one of the "In Flames We Trust No Matter What!" types.
