I'm a big In Flames fan. Just not one of the "In Flames We Trust No Matter What!" types.

I mean those types. Worshiping everything they do and the ground they walk on, and if you dislike anything of theirs you're just a dumb elitist who wants the same Jester Race album over and over again. There's never any other reason allowed.

Yeah, like, TJR is great but I would totally settle for another Reroute To Remain or Come Clarity  Heck, even a completely new direction could be cool. Just.....not what these last two songs have been.

You can be a "true fan" of a band and still admit when they fall short of standards. It's like patriotism. Loving your country doesn't mean thinking it's perfect and always in the right (USA! USA! USA!), it means wanting your country to be the best it can be...and that requires recognizing its flaws.

I don't believe there's such a thing as true fans. But the closest you can get is realizing that what you love isn't perfect. I've come to terms with the fact that Opeth isn't the band it used to be.

And for the record I WANTED In Flames to do something quite different. Just, as you said, not this. Look at what Soilwork has been doing the past three albums!

Okay, as a newcomer to the series I must ask: What cheesy power metal band did the Attack on Titan theme song?

Not really a band. It's just a song composed by Hiroyuki Sawano for the show.

Even you must think they've got SOME material that's just average. As for me I'm not too big on the first two albums or A Twist in the Myth.

I was joking, lol.

But actually, I don't think any of their albums are average. I love both Battalions of Fear and A Twist In The Myth. Stellar albums, both, though a step down from their highest masterpieces. The only release that falls a little short for me is Follow The Blind, but even that one has "Banish From Sanctuary" and "Valhalla". No, Blind Guardian is not perfect, but for me, their discography is the closest I have found. Honestly, it's hard for me to envision them doing anything wrong. They could record a pop album, a surf rock album, or a black metal album and I would probably still enjoy it

That was my inspiration for saying that. They covered both Surfin' USA and Barbara Ann. They've also covered a gospel-ish song. Look up "Alleluya". It's actually one of my many favorite Guardian songs.

Considering the magic our good Master Hansi can do with layered vocals, I would actually be hyped for a surf rock Blind Guardian album. Same lyrical themes as always, just early Sixties Beach Boys style of music.

They are doing something different on their next album. Supposedly it's an "orchestral" project, whatever that means. They've been working on it on the side since the early 2000s.

That double riff hits so fucking hard it should be illegal. I also agree on Trapped in a Corner. Really every song except The Philosopher is underrated on that album.

The newest Allegaeon song isn't their best but still pretty good. Kind of straight forward.
