Or a 90% of thrash metal. See, I can be edgy too!

90% of thrash metal is dull.
1% are the classics
1% are bands like Evile and Havok
2% are the unsung thrash titans
2% are not thrash bands but have quality thrash albums
3% are thrashaholics
1% are fucking godly

is this what you mean?

Just like every time I playfully and sarcastically elbow your ribs, you take it 100% seriously.

But 90% of any metal subgenre is dull and composed of bands that will never make it past playing in bars to 5 people that actually give a shit, and they will probably forget about the band in as many days.

Kiddie gang choirs. And when Anders goes into Timberlake Territory around the second minute.

2000: "Hey, get in line for tragic, let us dance to the pistol magic, just aim and end another, but think, as I rape your mother."
2016: "When we were young, was this the dream we had? Celebrating nothing, we need to find our way back." *cue generic solo*

In Flames sounds more like emo now, if you ask me.

You do know emo is more than just vocals that sound like crying, right?

So I listened to the In Flames song in full.

Just...no. It sounds way too much like stuff I hate, like some shitty metal from some shitty motorcross video game soundtrack.

It's not as bad as some of the songs from Siren Charms but not much better.

Meshuggah being good. Granted I wasn't the biggest fan of Koloss and this has a little of that album's sound but it's still a great song.

So far this year I've made two new friends are in to metal, one who is really in to prog metal, and another who mainly likes the classic bands. They asked what I listen to, so I introduced them to Candlemass, which they both liked. Witness the power of doom!

The prog-snob in me calls for djentfaggotry.

Just got into Periphery. They're actually really good.

You know what I think is funny? Of the three people I've met in real life that like metal, two of them were half into metalcore and stuff, and half into classic metal and rock.

I'm going to get hate for saying this but in much of the 2000s, metalcore (or at least the super popular branch i.e. Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine) was the classic rock of that decade.

Yes, but that most certainly was my first association after how the music changed beyond that moderately interesting start. Once I knew someone who really liked In Flames, but that guy also appreciated Limp Bizkit unironically . Make of that what you will.

Mind you, that very same guy also liked Slipknot, and Slipknot certainly has gotten better over the years. It is not all decay and decomposition.

I always found Iowa the one consistently decent album of theirs.

He probably confused it with goth metal. Which is still a stretch for Evanescence, but still.

Do the members of Evanescence (though last I checked Amy Lee is the only original one left) even consider themselves a metal band?
