Looks like September 30 is going to be the big day for metal this year. New Opeth, Epica, Alcest, Winterfylleth, Negura Bunget, Asphyx, and Suicidal Tendencies.

Fuck yeah, that's awesome to hear! +1 for being very excited.

Don't mind me mentioning a band that's not the most "Metal", but the new Oathbreaker album is also dropping on that day. After hearing this track (which sounds pretty damn "Metal" to me), I'm rather confident that it should be good.

I've never heard of these Melvins guys until I just watched the new Uncle Grandpa. I like what I hear.

Finally heard the newest Fates Warning album Theories of Flight. God damn, what did I miss out on? THIS IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Probably their best album since A Pleasant Shade of Grey if not better. Right behind Katatonia as #2 of the year so far.

I was thoroughly impressed with this new black metal. I plan on finishing the whole album later.

Always great to wake up and find a new band worth listening to. Thanks, Black Metal Updates.

EDIT: WAIT! This isn't a new band! I listened to the Veldes/Black Autumn split when it came out. This must just be that much better, I didn't recognize it.

The band name rings a bell, but I don't think I've ever listened to them before. Anyway, that track sounded pretty solid to me, so I might as well give the rest of the album a listen to later.

Also, I was browsing Metalstorm and came across the new Alcest track (Private video)

Came into that video expecting it to be horrible (sorry I don't really trust your taste in music), but was actually pleasantly surprised. The song was beautiful, and the whole sound kind of Panopticon. Which is good.

I'm really liking Tvangeste.

NST, I quite liked that song as well, though I prefer Tvangeste's style of lyrics.

Downfall of Nur's a one-man black metal band from Argentina. Their 2015 album "Umbras de Barbagia" is really great, I'm listening to it right now.

Just started listening too. Mostly intrigued because of the name because I used to have a Tatooine-inspired nation on here called Nur, haha. Sounds good so far though.

Apparently has to do with obscure Sardinian paganism

It sounds like Saor with a darker tone.

Might check it out. I didn't really like Aura, so maybe this darker Saorian band is more for me.

Hell yeah. Szron is some damn fine Polish black. You should check out Plaga, Medico Peste, Furia, Odraza, Wędrujący Wiatr, and Seagulls Insane and Swans Deceased Mining out the Void. Man, fuck, Polish black metal is probably the best out there after German, on par with US or Finnish. Especially Plaga. All three releases are amazing.

GAL!

I'm finally home and am listening to Universal Death Squad on HD quality with my studio headphones.

The first thing that surprised me was the guitar tone. Got a bit of an almost djenty vibe, but I got into it pretty quick. The intro seemed longer than typical Epica songs, and darker as well. Seems to be quite a bit heavier than their last album, so they definitely delivered on their promise. The mix seems to have a bit more space in it, but still sounds huge and each instrument comes through amazingly clear, in other words the type of production I would expect from Epica, I'm really digging it. Simone's voice is a little different on this track, but it seems to fit the song perfectly, and it shows Simone still has a ton to offer vocally. Majestic vocal performance as usual. Though I was surprised by the increased brutality of the growls, they really utilized their tight rhythm section and power and fit the growls in there in a more brutal way than before.

I haven't had much time to analyze it past that, I've listened to it twice now, beginning a third time now. I'm definitely not bored of it in the least, this is a track I can listen to on repeat no problem.

This next album is going to kick so much fucking ass.

Please, call me POLSKA
