Punk? Doom? Here, have a classic Black Flag song.

That's an alright album if you ask me, but I'm not a big fan of the vocals.

Assuming 'muny' is an alternative spelling of money, it seems more logical that Impy loves Dan Swano with a fiery passion, but that he simply lacks the funds to purchase the album you mentioned.

This. I would create a time machine just to marry him

Can't win 'em all. Still the very first hardcore punk album that featured doom songs, and therefore quite influential.

Can't really stand the vast majority of punk. A lot of people I know kind of got into metal through punk whereas I did through prog and classic rock.

Kolmya will give you the best but here's my recommendations split into two varieties:

"Classic" Doom Metal with a heavy metal edge
Candlemass
Trouble
Saint Vitus
Reverend Bizarre
Solitude Aeternus
Pentagram

Death/Doom with a Gothic edge, very dark shit
My Dying Bride
Paradise Lost (first couple and newest albums are death/doom, the rest are a more Gothic doom with some Hetfield vocals thrown in there
First 2 Katatonia albums
Ahab (more funeral doom but REALLY heavy)
Evoken

Can't go wrong with Cathedral, early Anathema and Stillborn either.

Holy shit... I never even knew this project existed! I really think I should be checking out more of his stuff, after all he rarely seems to disappoint. Outside of Edge of Sanity itself, the only project that I have actually heard is his self-titled one (which released Moontower) and that was pretty good.

Anyway, that song sounded bloody fantastic to my ears, so I'm definitely looking forward to the album when it comes out *adds to upcoming albums list*. Thanks so much for posting this, because I haven't seen much interesting stuff on the thread over the last couple of days.

I forgot about this band of his for a while, decided to listen to the first album today and it's some pretty good proggy death metal with a melodic edge. Kind of an evolved Edge of Sanity with some Amon Amarth thrown in for good measure.

Finally checked out the new album Triangle from Swiss black metal outfit Schammasch, a triple record that reeks of influence from Celtic Frost, Behemoth, Blut aus Nord, and (most especially) Deathspell Omega. Sounds like my kind of release, and it's fucking awesome. I can't believe this missed my radar, and all 100 minutes are worth it. Just listen to each 33 minute CD separately. The first is progressive black metal with very obvious BaN and DsO sounds to it, the second is sinister, clean vocal-centered extreme metal of a heavy variety, and the third is dark ritualistic ambience. The whole thing was produced by V. Santura of Triptykon (aka Celtic Frost 2.0) fame and the similarities in atmosphere are quite clear. If you're a fan of any of the bands I've mentioned in this list, check the album out. It's worth the massive amount of time. As for me, this is my third favorite album of the year, fucking amazing stuff.
