Metal Thread 3: Subjectivity isn't Metal

Why nobody is talking about them? Well, even musical subcultures have their mainstreams. It is easier for most to talk about old and/or former thrash metal bands that happen to be quite popular than about obscure pornogrind from the Czech Republic, Austrian black metal or Dutch old school death metal.

It was a rhetoric question and I answered it in the same post. If you want to talk about obscure metal and no one else is doing it, bring those bands up instead of wondering why everyone is busy with pop metal. Pop metal as in popular metal, not as a genre because such doesn't really exist.

I will out obscure everyone here! How you might ask. Well, the best way to do that is to go to obscure countries like Algeria, Sri Lanka and Bahrain.

Well the point was that I absolutely hate Fastkill but whatever.

On a side...just found a band called Monuments that has made some great, tastefully proggy metalcore with more than a hint of djent. Anybody got thoughts?

Due to my Death Metal spree, I've watched Dawn of the Dead, and the Day of the Dead. Holy shit are they good! I'll go back and watch Night of the Living Dead soon. On a side note, I've been listening to Metal Church.

I think the greenlist works better. Again though, that's probably because very few people go there.

That would be better. Imagine someone new coming to the thread and then people ask what they listen to so they can give recommendations. Good luck trying to tell them when 90% of the bands are blacklisted.

The best way to apply the blacklist is to make them personal. If you don't want to see a certain band/album/genre, put it there yourself. This way you don't need to bother with it but others can still view/link/discuss it. The only downside is that it requires people to tag the stuff they post, otherwise they just slip past said list. That's one reason why I said "RIP Manowar" instead of just "RIP" when I linked their announcement of quitting.

Besides, yet another problem is: What if a blacklisted band releases a new album?

Easily the most effective way to get around that is for people to fucking post more stuff instead of complaining when the discussion doesn't suit their own interests.
