Civilisation 5: 1UPT?

Civilisation 5 is one of the most popular games of the 2nd decade of this 21st Century. It's greatest departure from the past was this concept of one unit per tile. Opinions on the matter are quite divided. I have to go on the NAY side of this one, seeing as I believe that all problems in Civ 5 arise from this issue. But, however it is, Arts and Fiction, do you own Civ 5? Did you own Civ 4? In comparison, what do you think of one unit per tile?

One unit per tile demands tactical skill from the player, and makes wars more interesting. Certainly, it would be cool if you were allowed two units per tile, but to have a stack of a dozen units plodding around as an indestructible monolith is quite boring. I must admit I have only seen a friend play CivIV, but their stories suggest a disappointment with the war mechanics, especially the barrage of notifications when a stack is destroyed by a larger one (or a nuke).
I want to improve.

Paradox Interactive has some fantastic games, I mean, absolutely incredible. Victoria II is one of my favourite games in the history of games. Depth is fantastic, lots of options, lots of opportunities for RP if you're a great power too (personal hatred with the Belgians? Invade [x]!).

Someday I'll destroy Ghandi in the Civ 5.

I'd be happy with a 3 unit limit per tile, 2 for mounted or armored on the square.

At first, I didn't like it, but then I welcomed it for reducing armies to a more reasonable size. Those 50-100 unit SoDs were getting to annoying in Civ IV.
O'er the hills and o'er the main.

Should've done what Caveman 2 Cosmos mod did and reduce combat effectiveness on heavily crowded squares.

That's a pretty realistic tradeoff.

The C2C mod really goes all out. Even let's you adjust unit sizes. I don't like civ 5's other extreme of 1per tile...it's annoying. The C2C team liked unit stacking but hated swarming tactics, they realistically made modular "promotions" in the event a square was too crowded the units got more collateral damage and lost movement points and became much less combat effective. I really liked their system.
