Does anyone know what's coming up from Big Finish? Any news on if everyones favourite companion will be returning?

Some more Fourth Doctor stuff, a boxset of adventures starring Captain John Hart, some other Torchwood stuff, and a revival of Adam Adamant Lives!. The next two Monthly Range stories feature the Seventh Doctor, this month's featuring The Eleven and next month's featuring the Psychic Circus from The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.

the second episode was more like a dog biscuit than a choccy digestive. Disappointing to say the least. The origin of the Timelords might be interesting- when they decide to manifest it rather than tease.

So no more Adric then?

The Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 9 Volume 2 will have Romana II and Adric as the companions.

I hope they don't retcon The Three Doctors.

Sadly, I'm not sure tom baker has what it takes anymore. Either that or his scripts are terrible.

Probably a bit of both.

Good Episode, better than the first part

The parts with the Doctor back in 1834 with Ada Lovelace and then the pair of them with Noor Inayat Khan in 1943 were really good.

The villains were really good, especially Lenny Henry as Daniel Barton. He was surprisingly serious and chilling, especially the scene where he let the aliens kill his mum.

The gadget gags with the companions were good too.

Nah, I think they're implementing a twist on the Cartmel Masterplan.

Were we watching the same episode? If anything, he's getting worse. His writing has gotten so goddamn unsubtle that
he turned The Master into a literal Nazi.
And in between the hammered in girl power message and Aesop about screens and apps, fucknut decided to ruin something else I enjoy by
completely erasing everything accomplished during the 50th. Did you enjoy The Doctor secretly saving Gallifrey? Too bad, it got destroyed anyway.

Christ, can he be fired already?

Gonna partially disagree with you because
Ada Lovelace and Noor Inayat Khan
were two of the best bits of this episode, they were quite enjoyable. A full episode revolving around either one of them would have immensely been preferred to whatever this was.

Disappointing
it feels like we never found out who the aliens were, like were they even a threat? Who knows?

I fully agree with you on the disappointment regarding
Gallifrey. That was complete fucking bullshit and I don't know, it wasn't enjoyable in the slightest. Like, really a way to drop the fucking ball and just piss on the whole show in general.

That's what Chibnall does. Wouldn't be surprised if he nixes the phonebox look of the TARDIS eventually. He seems dead set on getting rid of everything good about this show.

Gallifrey should have stayed a blasted ruin forever. Every time the Time Lords were included in the show after the ending of The War Games brought dramatically diminishing returns, and especially after The Deadly Assassin.

You many get your wish. I do think the BBC want to get rid of it. Why else would they change it from prime time Saturday at the start of the 11th series? Next it will be on at midnight... It's what they did last time they wanted to get rid of it so for all we know all of this political correctness might be a deliberate move to remove the show.

Worst thing is, people will blame Whittaker instead of Chibnall. She's doing her damnedest to carry this ass writing, but people will go to "Female Doctor got it cancelled!" if it ends during her tenure.

I hate to say it but I think if it is cancelled she will get a significant portion of the blame.

I wonder how well Doctor Who would do if it got turned into a after-watershed show, in the vein of Torchwood? Given how popular popular gritty dramas are nowadays, I wonder how well a proper dark and gritty Doctor Who would go?

Can we not? Torchwood was terrible. I'd rather Doctor Who not copy it. This show can be gritty when it wants, without the banal bullshit that show ran on.

So do i. I enjoyed part 2 there of Spyfall, good stuff

No idea if the timeless child is a thing that has appeared in the show before, but sounds interesting. Rip to Galifrey tho, that place never gets a break.

Something that irks me about Whittacker's Doctor is her jolly hockeysticks joan Grenfell attitude. Maybe a council estate version of that chipper mindset but it rubs. What do you lot think are the pros and cons of her portrayal.

Pros: She's fun. Reminds me of Eleven at times. Old alien trying and failing to be hip and human with her pals. Always enjoy that. Pretty good with the quips.

Cons: She is just not intimidating. She's 5'2, wearing a lilac coat and a shirt with a rainbow on it. I've seen her be pretty intense in clips from Broadchurch and such, but it is not translating to a sci-fi show.

The timeless child was mentioned once last series and it was completely glossed over as soon as the words were spoken and this is the first we've heard of it since.
