On another topic, what do people think is the best tv story for each Doctor? I know it's hardly an original question, but it so often produces really varying results and it's so interesting to see what people think.

So here goes:
First Doctor: The Tenth Planet or The Dalek Invasion Of Earth
Second Doctor: The Power Of The Daleks
Third Doctor: Inferno
Fourth Doctor: Genesis Of The Daleks
Fifth Doctor: [I actually haven't seen enough of his to really make a judgement]
Sixth Doctor: Vengeance On Varos
Seventh Doctor: The Happiness Patrol The Curse Of Fenric
(Skipping 8 and War for obvious reasons)
Ninth Doctor: Bad Wolf/The Parting Of The Ways
Tenth Doctor: The Waters Of Mars
Eleventh Doctor: The Day Of The Doctor
Twelfth Doctor: Under The Lake/Before The Flood
Thirteenth Doctor so far: Demons Of The Punjab

1st Doctor: The Aztecs
2nd Doctor: Power of the Daleks, although Fury from the Deep would probably overtake it if the visuals still existed.
3rd Doctor: Inferno
4th Doctor: Genesis of the Daleks
5th Doctor: The Caves of Androzani
6th Doctor: Vengence on Varos
7th Doctor: The Curse of Fenric
9th Doctor: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
10th Doctor: The Waters of Mars
11th Doctor: The Doctor's Wife
12th Doctor: Heaven Sent
13th Doctor: It Takes You Away

Also, Big Finish from what I've listened to so far:
5th Doctor: Spare Parts
6th Doctor: Tie between The Holy Terror and Davros
7th Doctor: The Rapture
8th Doctor: The Chimes of Midnight

Spare Parts is so good! Probably the best audio drama I've heard.
Personally I love the 6th Doctor audios, my favourite is Masters Of Earth.

Other favourites from Big Finish include UNIT: Assembled and Death's Deal.

They have some issues with writing and the villains not being amazing but i still liked it, think it can improve. I also think Jodie does a fine job at the role, just havnt got that moment yet with her like i have with the others, where im like yup, thats the doctor. She will get there i reckon

Yugoslavia's back baby...

How the hell did this happen?
Well...we don't actually know. Just sort of happened one day.
Is it a reunited Yugoslavia in the 21st century? Is a rebel colony world in the far future? Is it a race of cyborg neo-life at war with any assimilating organisms they come across in the far far future? Who knows, who cares?

I think the key is probably whether or not the story is compelling. You can have characters outright state your political message, so long as the audience is engaged.

Right now, you've got pretty weak stories, so it's just an hour of tedium that ends with Chibnall hitting you clumsily over the head with his message.

I have seen it, and they did it right...somehow. I mean, it's supposed to be anti-Thatcher. But when I saw it, I assumed it was some pro-gay rights deal...also it's batshit insane and I love that. It was Doctor Who with a political message. A message that can apparently evolve depending on who is seeing it.

Chibnall does not do that. His episodes are so blunt it's pitiful. I mean, Rosa, Arachnids in the UK, Demons of the Punjab, Kerblam!, The Withfinders. He almost seems to forgot this is Doctor Who. I believe I've said this before, but he made this show feel less alien. I mean in 4 of the 5 I mentioned up there, the villain turned out to be...some dude. He doesn't use the bonkers sci-fi concept for his message. He just preaches it while having them lounge about it dreary sets.

Yeah, and that's fine when STUFF HAPPENS. I mean look at "Gridlock". 90% of that episode is set in cars smaller than a studio apartment. But it DID SOMETHING.

mostly through worldbuilding and clever story telling. The Macra is also clever because they were written in without feeling forced nostalgia.
