Ninja'd. You beat me to it.

I'm disappointed by the lack of Who this year and I'm finding their excuse to push it back a little lacking, but if that means we'll get an awesome season 10, then I'm happy. Season 9 was one of the best of the revived series.

However, I think this is the right time for Moffat to step down. He's done great work for Doctor Who and has given us two great Doctors (three, counting War). It's a good idea for him not to overstay his welcome. Not too sure what to think of the new guy though. He have us the criminally underrated 42, but the terrible Power Of Three. Will need time to process this.

Still no word on the next companion though. Hopefully we'll start getting new details soon.

I've never seen Broadchurch, but I'm told it was very, very good, so hopefully that speaks well of his showrunning capabilities. Mostly, I'm hoping Peter will stick around for at least Series 11 so we don't have to say goodbye to him and Moffat both at the same time.

Let's tone this down, shall we? You seem inordinately angry over an episode of television.

I do hope he will be good, but Broadchurch is leaving me feeling ambivalent. Season one was great, but season two was really weak. And I see no reason for the season three that it is getting: now, that may not be Chibnall's fault (Broadcruch got great viewership numbers), but it does make me fear we will see more of the bigger issues we have seen in NuWho. Those being not letting go of certain companions and storylines.

However, the episodes Chibnall wrote so far (42, The Hungry Earth, Cold Blood, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, The Power of Three) were quite solid (some being better than others), so I'm carefully optimistic for the future.

I'll admit to being a little disappointed over the lack of a series this year, but at least they've got someone who seems to have all the qualities needed to run a show like this.

As much as I love puns, it was still a bad episode and it was the worst of season 7, imo. The ending was such a let down. I have mixed feelings about the new showrunner, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I also hope Capaldi stays on after Moffat leaves. Have him stay on for at least season 11. He has surpassed Tom Baker as my second favorite Doctor.

Chris Chibnall also produced Born and Bred, which was a fantastic show if you're into that sort of thing.

My feelings about Chibnall as showrunner are also mixed because, while I loved his work on Broadchurch and Born and Bred, and even Torchwood (apart from Cyberwoman), he's never really distinguished himself in his Doctor Who work. Jury's still out for me.

Given that he still gets one more season before actually leaving, I doubt it, though I suppose some transition time is advisable.

Still... one fucking episode this year, and then we get to wait until 2018 for a writer with as mediocre a record on Doctor Who as Chibnall? Glad as I am to be rid of Moffat (despite the odd good episode from him), I am not exactly dancing for joy.

However, I will be fair to Chibnall and give him a chance. Though I would have preferred fresh new talent rather than one of the existing writers.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

 Tokuopolis is confused. They said there would be a full series this year but it would be rumoured that there wouldn't be, but now there's just going to be an xmas special? :( That's disappointing. Well, at least there's Class this year.

I'd like Capaldi to stick around too, see what another showrunner can do with him. On the other hand, the new showrunner may prefer a blank slate.

I think it's good that Moffat is leaving. I thought he was trying to go for the record for longest showrunner of Doctor Who, and would stay on for several more years, regardless of any decline in his writing. And I actually got into Dr who more in the Moffat era, and Matt Smith is my favourite doctor. The 12th doctor seasons have been a bit hit and miss.

Fix'd.

That's a rumour, not yet actually confirmed by Capaldi or the BBC. And The Mirror is notorious for spreading wildly inaccurate Doctor Who rumours, so I wouldn't put much store in it.

YAHZAA!! :D

Found this website. It says SJA is aimed at teenagers, when it's really aimed at children aged 6-10 or so. If anything, I'd say Torchwood is aimed at teenagers (specifically, older ones 15/16+)

It's from The Mirror, which is well known for publishing many "rumors" about Doctor Who. Anything they say about Doctor Who should be taken with a truckload of salt.

Unless it's directly from the BBC and Capaldi himself, I'm not buying it. I can't see why Capaldi couldn't do a couple more seasons and regenerate in either season 11 or 12.

I've vacillated between wanting Capaldi to stay on for a series or two (or three) after Series 10, and wanting to give Chibnall a totally clean slate to work with, like Moffat got, but I think I'd prefer Capaldi to stay on. I think Capaldi has it in him to become the definitive modern Doctor, and he could totally carry an extended run in the role. I kind of just want someone to break the "3 season rule" for modern Doctors and stay around for a long time, like a modern Tom Baker. Tennant could have done it; even Smith if they'd opted to explore his character more; but I think Capaldi's Doctor definitely has it in him.

You posted this twice. But anyway, yeah that's it Xmas special this year and a new season in 2017. Astro probably hasn't updated it yet.

There's still Class, this year. If it'll air on BBC3 online, will it be a 15 (like Torchwood)
, due to BBC3's TA being 16-35)? Most people expect it will be a 12 like doctor who. Some have said considering the dark tone of Dr who Recently, a lighter spinoff would be nice. I don't know. None of the DWU shows are really aimed specifically at teenagers (SJA was aimed at children aged 6-10, doctor who is aimed at everyone aged 8 to 108, Torchwood was arguably aimed at older teenagers, being a 15 rated show, but most people saw it as a spinoff for adults)

It's perfectly well updated: as we're getting a Christmas special, Doctor Who is returning this year. We're just not getting a new season of it.
