You know, it actually does make weird sense Twelve is so reluctant to regenerate. He's Twelve, but technically the first. The first batch of this new cycle. I imagine every first regeneration must be pretty scary. So here comes OG Doctor to help him through it.

You know, I hadn't even considered it from that perspective. It does make sense if we consider Capaldi to be the first of a new batch of regenerations.

It at least makes more sense than Ten's vanity issues.

There is also a point to be made that this doctor has completed an arc, and that he now is a morally good doctor. He spent three series wondering whether he was a good man, and finally, his self-sacrifice proves that he is indeed a good man. He'd hate to change into someone else and have that all be for naught, I think.

So I've decided I'm going to rewatch all of new Who before the Christmas special airs.

Finished with my rewatch of season 1, and I can't tell you enough how much I love this season. So many good episodes (I even enjoyed the Slitheen two-parter once I got past the farting aliens), and say what you will about RTD, but at least he follows through on his story arcs. Bad Wolf is perhaps the best arc they've done.

There's a reason why Nine remains my favorite Doctor. I really miss Eccleston, and John Barrowman (though I can at least see him on Legends).

Yeah, not sure what to make of that. Apparently Chibnall's worked with him before on Law & Order: UK, so he's obviously opting for familiar faces.

Until it's confirmed by the BBC, take it with a big grain of salt.

If true, however, it's a very interesting take on the companion. Aside from Wilfred, they've never had a companion "older" than the Doctor, and it would likely kill off any chance of a romance happening.

Well, I am not filled with joy at the thought of this. But when I heard Catherine Tate was going to be the new companion, I was not filled with joy at the thought of that either (because I HATED her "comedy" show), but quite honestly, Rory & Amy aside, Donna was THE single best companion in the history of the new series. She just blew me away completely.

So I guess we will see. Because if Catherine Tate can turn out to be the third best companion since 2005 (because Rory & Amy are never going to be beaten, ever) then it is entirely possibly Bradley Walsh could turn out to be a lot better than I am expecting as well.

Just from the point of view of the new series, I wouldn't have thought the first female Doctor falling for the first bloke she meets would happen anyway. I would imagine there would be...... comments

Older man trope? Anyone? With a female Doctor I think the risk is exacerbated by having an older companion rather than a younger one. Just how the stereotypes crumble.
