It's 1402 and the world has turned upside down.

The Ming Dynasty has gone extinct. Revolutions against the interregnum government started in the south. The Shun Dynasty rose in Nanjing and assumed control of China, but the people of China refused to believe that the Shun had the Mandate of Heaven as long as they only controlled the northern half of China.
The result was absolute chaos. Half a dozen dynasties, all claiming to be the legitimate heirs to either the Ming or the still-extant Yuan rose up in the south and east. The Xi, Xia, Chen, Shen, Ning, Liang, Chu, Yu, and Han all broke away from Nanjing.
The Shun still claimed nominal ownership over all of China, until the Han took Beijing and moved their government there. Then, a few years later, the Xi seiged and annexed Nanjing, and it was over.

The Shun quickly died out, and in its wake was a power vacuum quickly filled by nine dynasties. Some of these dynasties were big, some were small, but none of them had control over more than a handful of cities. Some believed that the Yuan, who still reigned in Mongolia, were the only ones capable of restoring divine order to China.

They were wrong.
While China was collapsing, the rest of the world was not sitting idly by.

In all of Tianxia, the Emperors of China claimed to be the legitimate rulers of every scrap of land. Except for one.
All, they claimed, were beneath the Emperor in rank, for it was the Emperor who represented heaven's will on earth, and all were subject to Heaven. Except for one.
Every state, every country, beyond China's borders was forced to either pay tribute to China or risk being annexed outright. Every state, except for one.

While the Empire of the Great Ming was collapsing, a new Empire was rising. One that could not only challenge China's legitimate ownership of Tianxia, but outright destroy the concept itself.

While the Emperor of China was having his very authority stripped away from him, a new Emperor was expanding his sphere of influence, and training his military to be far superior to any possible foes.

While China was dying in the west, the Sun was rising in east.



From Manchuria to the Philippines, the Empire of the Sun has firmly staked its ground, and is now engaged in a mighty game against the Yuan for control over all of Tianxia.

And history will never quite be the same.

Things have gotten so bad in the past that I've sometimes wondered if the AI was going to screw me over with that.

Normal: Possibly Castile but Byzantium and Granada have given me some fun games (Even if I'm likely to die with both)
ET: Roma definitely followed by the Ummayads. I haven't given the present day thing a good look at (minus an ongoing Iran game)

I've discovered that I get way too much pleasure out of bethrothing my son to a princess, and then proceeding to bang and impregnate that princess for the next decade before my son becomes an adult.

Welp, I think I've officially hit my longest playing streak in a Paradox game. Managed to hit a 1,550 year reign in EU4 before I stopped for the night, started off as the Iceni in the extended timeline mod, and eventually formed Great Britain. I'll post screenies sometime tomorrow, if anyone wants to see the madness that's resulted.

You can probably hide behind your straits if France actually tries to come for you. Peace out as soon as you can, then rinse and repeat if necessary. Never stop the integration process once you start it, even if you're not making progress.

Adding onto that it might make sense to build troops up within the confines of your straights without intention to using more than a regiment or two for purposes of guiding swedish troops, just so you have a bit higher power relative to Sweden.
