I love how easy it is to build mah Co-Prosperity Sphere in Kaiserreich.

Is it bad that I suck as Japan in KR, and can only ever do well as Wrangelite Russia or MacArthur, President for Life?

A key thing to remember when starting a game as the Rising Sun: rename your naval units immediately so you can look at the list and tell immediately what units you need to activate. Otherwise, they will all be the same name.

EDIT: For reference, my current Empire (by which I mean my direct control) is Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Legation Cities, Shandong Peninsula, Hainan, former German IndoChina and the area to the north of Beijing. My puppet states are National China (basically all of China-Proper) and Fengtien (Manchuria), [forgot Transamur]. I have Thailand in my alliance.

Yeah, they are pretty hard. But once you surround enemy forces in China, the enemy has to redeploy their forces, so there are more openings.

Future targets are the remaining German colonies in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Burma may also be a future target. Shoring up the strength of my puppet it Thailand is rather important for me.

Mere seconds before I was set to go to sleep, I finally encounter the patiently awaited Stellaris Dev Diary.

The Sol System seems nicely represented here and those screens have nice bits of info. I might recruit more Admirals and Governors than Scientists and Generals with my Sauriticae empire. That ruler screen seems incredibly interesting as well, seeing from those policies: Slavery, FTL Credit-Sharing, Inhibition Release, Utopian Abundance, and Noninterference Directive with FTL Credit-Sharing and the ND checked. Government type: Indirect Democracy confirmed, and various Empire Modifiers and other buttons.

Isn't it possible to win as any country in Europa Universalis IV by amassing an American level of debt and hiring as many mercenaries as one can muster?

If your debt gets to American levels you'll go bankrupt and lose all your mercenaries.

It just strikes me it would be pretty unfair for lesser-developed or fledgling empires if they can be snuffed out by a singe attack at once, instead of at least a campaign securing the objectives on the target planet.

Of course, that is a moot point if you bombard their civ into oblivion from orbit.

If I can't destroy planets from systems away by attaching an FTL drive to space debris, I will be a sad pony.
