This is what I think the maximum extent we can go back in CK2. Muhammad died in 632 AD. Paradox said they would not let the game go back as to when Muhammad was still alive.

So we can go back as far as 632 AD... but honestly, I myself think that 638 would be a better date, or 644 AD.

Damn. Was looking forward to a Justinian expansion pack that added Druidism and Hellenic and Djinnism...and King Arthur. And Arianism. And story lines for a lot of the characters. And a Zoroastrian Persian Empire.

I would prefer 632. It would make the Caliphate actually a challenge to play, due to various revolts and apostasies which happened upon Muhammad's death.

Seeing as we aren't going to see any pre-Muhammad's death times... not sure. I'd like to see Paradox implement a sort of mechanic for the colonization of Iceland, though. Seeing as it was uninhabited for a good chunk of CK2's timeframe.

• After the End : This mod transforms your map into a post-apocalyptic USA, coming with new religions such as Americanism, Voodoo, and Consumerism (consumerism best religion 4ever :p ).
You can also try to restore the American Empire, complete with a President as head. Old religions remain, such as Catholicism, Mormons and Evangelicists. You also can have the British re-invade you, as a powerful horde from the East...

• When The World Stopped Making Sense (WTWSMS) : My personal favourite. It includes two new starting dates, that of 476 and 480 AD. The Western Roman Empire just collapsed. It is to you whether to restore it to its full former glory, to help them as the Soissons, or to finish them for once and all as the Ostrogoths or Huns. The rise of Islam is included in this mod. In this mod, the world is much more dangerous and there are far more tribes, less income. The mod includes various new religions such as Druidism, Nicaenism (Early undivided christianity), and also includes religious mixes such as Romano-Gallic, which later can become French cultures, or Anglo-Roman, which in turn can become something like the Normans. These cultural mixes can come when parents of two specific different cultures marry each other and get children. Hellenism also stronk in this mod.

• Historical Immersion Project (HIP): A mod that adds many more provinces and makes them historically accurate, adds historical religions, cultures 'n stuff. I don't know much about this mod because I've never played it or heard about it much, but it definitifely looks like a good mod to me, especially because they make the map aesthetically look more pleasing. Bordergore is even beautiful in this mod.

• CK2+ : Like HIP, this is not a total conversion, but it has major effects on your gameplay. Similar to HIP, but the big difference is that country colours are more strong.

• Britannia: The Winter King (B:tWK) : Like WTWSMS, but if you love historical accuracy and English-French history, I would recommend this more. The mod is set in the fourth/fifth century AD, and focuses on the struggle between British tribes in Britain on one hand, and the fight between the Gallic Franks and the Soissons (last Roman army command in France) on another hand. 10/10 would play again.
