A Top 10 Most Halloween Prehistoric Animals part 2

Postby Tokuopolis » Tue Nov 17, 2015 1:23 pm

Following on from my previous post, here's the other half of "A top 10 most halloween prehistoric animals"!
5.Dunkleosteus- Terrifying even in fossilised form, this huge armored fish was the top predator of the devonian, if not the whole palaeozoic. Making it a costume maybe difficult, but there are already fish based costumes. A homemade one made out of cardboard wouldn't be bad either.
4.Titanoboa- A giant snake that lived after the extinction of the dinosaurs, this the largest, longest, and heaviest snake ever discovered, and since snakes are already somewhat halloween mascots anyway, it would be perfect to have this as a new halloween mascots. As costumes, it's harder to see, but they could make good accessories for a time-traveller costume.
3.Tyrannosaurus Rex- People think a T.rex with feathers would kill its coolness and/or scariness, but IMO, if you don't find a giant reptilian vulture even the tiniest bit scary, or cool, I'd love to know what kind of meat the ground is made of where you come from. As costumes, imagine something like this with a red coloured head but with a vulture-esque design for the body.
2.Pulmonoscorpius- A huge land dwelling scorpion, this would make a great halloween mascot. Scorpions and Spiders are already highly associated with halloween, so I can definitely see this happening. We only need something to emphasise the Prehistoric connection. Displaying it alongside Arthropleura could be good, or giving it "prehistoric" colours. There are already similar costumes, that decking them out in some "prehistoric" colours is very easy.
1.Guidraco venator-I'll admit, determining a number one wasn't easy. But after seeing this image
Image
... I knew it had to be number one. The name itself means Malicious Ghost Dragon". Despite the animal's fearsome appearance, it was most likely a harmless fish-eater, but no-one thinks cats are all that deadly and they are still halloween mascots. As costumes, imagine something similar to the Azhdarchidae costume idea.

So that's it for my "A Top 10 Most Halloween Prehistoric Animals"! Feel free to mention what others you think should be included, and cover the ones I missed!

New Mortasheen Monsters!

Bogleech Silent Hill 4

World Of Monsters Youtube Channel

Classic Monsters of the Movies

Space Monsters Magazine!

I thought it was kinda weird how a lot of the Mona the Vampire TV adaptation books had her looking angry on the cover, since on the original book covers and the intro and DVDs of the show, she normally looks happy or scared (see here)

.

I came to accept it as they normally had her fighting the monster or the like on the cover, but when I saw the cover of the sticker book (and the Activity book) with Mona looking angry,

the feeling that this was weird and OOC came back. Compare this to the colouring book cover

where she looks more like herself. TV Adaptation Mona is Hardcore.

Here's another weird thing about the Mona the vampire book covers. A relatively large chunk of the older fanbase prefers Mona with her normal hair, but with a vampire costume, and there's nothing wrong with that. I call this design "Mona the Dhampir" (dhampir referring to a half-human half-vampire creature).

As for my opinions on her vampire costume, I usually don't mind her vampire wig/full vampiric costume (sometimes I do, but I usually don't).

Hiawyn Orm, the illustrator of the second series of books, clearly agrees with "Mona the Dhampir" fans (she also looks a lot younger in these covers)

In the covers for the first book, illustrated by Sonia Holleyman (author of the entire book series (even TV adaptations)AFAIK), Mona has the full vampire costume.

Thanks! Did you enjoy it? I got it from the charity shop last week, I'll have to have a watch of it. Did you know how it got into the public domain? It was originally called Night of the Flesh eaters, but was re-titled Night of the Living Dead, but when they did the retitling they forgot to put the copyright text back in. Back in those days, that meant it fell into the public domain.
