I played against Vladimir adc like 2 straight games in a row. I ban him the next match, and instead their bot lane is Gangplank and Volibear. Then next game I decide to go mid lane. Matched against Lucian.

This has been consistent all week too. What the hell

There seems to be a lot of Vladimir bot lane but it doesn't even end there. People just pick anything. Here's only a few wacky encounters we had in the bot lane:

Illaoi and Veigar bot, Pantheon mid, Kindred top ? ? ? ? ?

Brand and Swain

Nami and Darius

And since Lucian is the only adc that can consistently stand up to these types of comps, all other adc champions are just never played at ALL

There's been a big nerf to crit adc's, which have been pretty much a staple of the meta for a long while now. It's kinda thrown everyone off cause now there's no real defining picks for bot, so people are trying out all sorts of different comps.

For example, there's some mega protect-the-carry comps atm which has an extra support, usually Taric, mid.
Very high risk, high reward.

Means everything is a bit chaotic atm. Interesting, for sure. Not to everyone's taste, certainly. As a primarily league viewer rather than player, I'm certainly enjoying it.

Looking at the top 3 picks, it seems like the favoured bot picks are those with a bit of self peel. Ezreal, Lucian and Kai'sa all have some dodge/escape mechanics. Could be that extra survivability against these more aggressive picks is what's giving them the edge.
But hey, I'm no analyst.

Probably because you can just play a tank or ad/ap assassin for shits and giggles and do ten times better with ten times less effort.

People don't even play Lucian bot anymore apparently. Everyone just takes him mid because he shits on every mage. It's like the roles are reversed now.

EDIT on the subject of Ezreal: I struggle to even call Ez an adc. He might as well be an AD Ziggs. I even noticed people steering more towards the double tear build for him where you get a boat load of ad/ap just to get more damage on your long range skillshots.

Still, is it really surprising that Lucian and Ezreal are getting popular? They have the disengage you need to get away from these stupid ass kill lanes people roll now.

But I think you're right about the disengage. That combined with the fact that they weren't touched by the crit nerfs means they're sitting pretty right now.
In fact the new Essence Reaver was a pretty big buff, for Lucian at least.
I haven't read the most recent patch notes, but I don't think Rageblade was touched too much either, which benefits Kai'sa.
Tear wasn't hit very hard either, if at all iirc, so Ez is still happy with his core itemisation.

Edit: Kind of a perfect storm for these three. Everyone else was hit both stats wise and itemisation wise, whereas their stats and itemisation remain untouched, and their safety makes them valuable picks in a somewhat chaotic meta.
