Omega Squad Veigar. I was excited. The excitement went away when it turned out he gets no new voice lines, and his ult animation sucks.

To me, the default skin's ult animation is still the best. This one is indeed lame as crap, it's so underwhelming.

It's no different for the other 3. The whole reason people like Omega Squad Teemo, is cause it turns him into a Vietnam flashback wacko. These are just mediocre reskins.

Played Flex with one ex Diamond yesterday and a full party (Silver-Gold).

It was ABSOLUTELY UNPLAYABLE. The ennemy team was probably full of ex Plats (the average of our MMR but evenly distributed).

It was just ABSOLUTELY the most unplayable thing ever.

At first i get Ganks from ex Diamond and win the lane. But then team fights came... Every single team fight ends in three seconds and we would all just immediately get blown up (they'll lose at most 1 person). The enemy team would position with this super precise (4:1, the 1 ADC) positioning with the 2 tanks just blocking absolutely all damage. And then the ADC would just kill everyone. Every single time. Three seconds... every one dead.

We had maybe at most 2 tries to get our formation right (we didn't). And it was just straight out over.

So I've stayed off the game for around a month or whenever I decided to quit (mainly because I can't actually log into the account). But I've watched a few streams and things and the new champion doesn't look as overpowered as some people are claiming him to be. Is there something I'm missing about him?

he's surprisingly popular in Ranked... but most of the time when I play I've noticed the team with him tends to lose because people on average suck at him

I've heard he tends to be a bit underwhelming.
Could be that people just haven't figured how to play with or against him yet.
Give it a month or two, see how his winrate plays out, assuming he doesn't get any major nerfs/buffs.

Upon arriving in Hong Kong playing on NA is no longer an option. Its simply too laggy (200+ Ping); I tried playing and got destroyed (people would Flash before I realised it).

I've decided to switch over to the Japanese server. Has anyone played on it?

Or should I go KR?

Well, you could try that Haste thing. I hear it really irons out ping issues for LoL.

But if you do switch, DO NOT go KR. You don't wanna play a Korean server. They will obliterate you.

Apparently getting an account on the KR server is rather difficult, you need the equivalent of a Korean SSN to sign up. I'm sure there are other ways to sign up, considering there are a lot of LPL and LMS players who use Korea.

I would try Japan or maybe OCE, since they speak English on OCE

might give it a try but if it stays at 200 I may have to call it, the delay is simply too much in my view
