I realized there wasn't a thread for this, so I felt compelled to make one for some reason. Feel free to discuss the UK and US versions of Robot Wars as well, can't possibly forget about Blendo or Hypno-Disc.

Now, moving on. Did you guys watch the new episodes of BattleBots that aired on ABC? If so, did anyone catch the semi-finals and the showdown between Tombstone and the underdog Bite Force?

I didn't, but I did see the episode with Tombstone vs. Counterrevolution where that YouTube video is from. That was an impressive ass-kicking.

Yeah, that was like Hypno-Disc vs Robogeddon all over again, in other words, there was no competition.

Though Counter Revolution did beat a bar spinner before. So the bot wasn't a complete pushover.

There was a Battlebots thread? Shoot. Wish I'd noticed this during the season. Tombstone was robbed!

I seriously thought it was going to win the championship.

Those of us who watched Last Rites (an older Tombstone) perform in the Robogames were really hyped for a victory on its behalf, and for good reason. I mean, the thing decimated the highly successful Vlad the Impaler.

That whole fight was weird, Bronco could have easily won over Tombstone if it hadn't defensively cower in the corner biding time for its opponent's bar to reach full speed.

Remember it was here, this time! Battlebots be back. Some good fights, tonight. Except for Disk O' Inferno VS Chomp. He got robbed. But, Hypershock fucking dismantled that bitch ass wedge bot. Loved it.

Also loved Warhead roasting that stupid gimmick bot.

He better. Cause he got screwed. He had Chomp on her side all fight, and they give it to her cause of a lucky hit.

Oh man, there were some good fights tonight though. I mean wow. I think that's the first time I've seen a design with a flamethrower specifically engineered to be useful. Most of the time the bots with flamethrowers can't keep the flame on the target long enough to actually do much damage, but goddamn!

Also interesting to see more designs trying to utilize flying drones. Neat concept, but difficult to make effective, at least from tonight's showing.

Yes.

Complete Control's flamethrower was more effective, IMO, but Warhead's looks like it's mounted in a kind of similar fashion where if they get an opponent caught in the jaws they can keep the heat on one area long enough to do damage. Granted, Warhead's fight was pretty much a foregone conclusion. Obwalden Overlord was a cool idea, but that control system meant waaaaay too many vulnerable points of failure, and the arms just did not have the speed or reaction time to actually be useful.

I just finished watching that myself. Now I'm not too informed on who all is who (the second fight I watched, honestly), but I do say that was a mighty interesting fight to watch while eating my dessert tonight.

Witch Doctor are a bunch of wimps, who got an undeserved Wild Card spot last season. I've hated them ever since.

I think Yeti just became one of my faves with that win. Three wheels, and he still tore them apart. Awesome.
