Attack! starring Jack Palance, Eddie Albert, Buddy Ebsen, and Lee Marvin.

It's a rather depressing WW2 movie from 1956. I think in many, perhaps most countries, a movie like this about their own military would have been banned or suppressed in some way. But it's from the era when most adults in the USA were either in the war or at least one family member was in the war, so they knew the score.

Also freedom of speech was considered sacred in the post-WW2 period, because after all that's one of the things our military fought for. Sad that freedom of speech is now considered something bad by so many. Perhaps after the next war that will change back. The way things are going, many people are wondering if that war is coming soon. But let's stay optimistic.

Assignment Paris 1952, pretty clearly cold war propaganda.

Remember 2015 - 8/10
Christopher Plummer is great in this, as are the other actors.

Coming 2 America

I was a bit disappointed by it, the original had a well-written story to drive it along while this one kind of just shouts at you with cameo appearances and hip-hop dance numbers.

The 2018 adaptation of Fahrenheit 451.

meh.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

No Escape, with Owen Wilson (2015 I think). If you've seen Behind Enemy Lines starring Owen Wilson, it is somewhat similar as he also plays a more serious character trying to survive a hostile environment and heavily armed enemies hunting him down. Not bad IMO.

Bridesmaids and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Both were alright. Animation in Raya and the Last Dragon was great.

Edit: Just watched Coming to America, thought it was pretty good.

Just watched Umberto D., a sad Italian movie from 1952. You can watch it on Dailymotion for free. Highly recommended.

Boss level 6.7/10
Ok, so this type of film has been done again and again, but this is definitely an entertaining addition to the repeat the same day over and over genre. Frank Grillo is excellent in the lead role and its got plenty of action and comedy thrown in there. Definitely worth a watch.

The Internet Historian's biographical Sundance Festival reject masterpiece on 18th century pirate Stede Bonnett, "The Gentleman Pirate." Definitely qualifies as a movie, and very clearly a masterpiece.
