John Wick 2 like playing a game of Time Crisis without the sense of engagement. They forgot to have a plot, and just had characters reading out exposition.

The Bank Job

Have you ever watched a movie that you know you've never seen yet it feels like you've seen it before? Because the plot details for the heist itself definitely seem familiar.

Is that the Jason Statham one about the security services using a bank robbery to get compromising photographs of Princess Margaret? There was a documentary on the History Channel a few years ago called The Baker Street Robbery, also an old episode of The Sweeney with a similar plot.

I thought it’d be lame to have some romantic sub-plot, but it wasn’t bad at all. I also knew it’d be a lame movie if Tewkesbury didn’t die, so while I was sad when he was shot, I wasn’t too surprised. But then, he actually lived, but it wasn’t lame because he was wearing a corset, which I thought was really cool.

Me too!

And I watched "the great wall" (2016), by Zhang Yimou.
As soon as you accept it isn't about the great wall, you'll have a entertaining experience.

That's the one.

I might be thinking of The Hatton Garden Job, all I know is that I've definitely seen the "nosy cop comes to check out what all the noise is about/someone picks up the gang's radio transmissions and calls the police/lookout across the street drops the walkie-talkie from the roof" thing before.

The Day of the Locust it's disconcerting watching a film where one of the main characters is called Homer Simpson. A good film but too long.

The last movie that I've seen that left any kind of impact was Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father which destroyed me emotionally.

Hit! which was an interesting, if not great film from the seventies I'd not seen before. It had elements of a caper movie like Oceans 11, in that most of the film was putting together a team to carry out a job, though in this case it was a frustrated police officer putting together a team to kill the French Connection bigwigs in Marseilles in revenge for the death of his daughter. Elements of blaxploitation films, revenge thrillers, some comedy, police office going rogue. It had some big plot problems like why buy a boat in British Columbia to sail to Marseilles?

It would suit being remade in a contemporary setting.

i'm thinking of ending things

I love thrillers like this, though I think I've pieced most of it together (confirmed through the summary of the novel the film is based on).

A Good Year

The romantic bits were a bit cheesy, but otherwise it was an enjoyable film.
