Catching up on Ghibli. I watched Howl's Moving Castle, Porco Rosso and The Tale of Princess Kaguya.

Kaguya was amazing, think it might be one of my favourite movies of all time. Liked Porco Rosso as well.

Didn't like Howl though, my least favourite of the ~10 Ghibli films I've seen so far.

Just watched Color Out of Space.

It was decent enough. The scripting was definitely the worst part of the movie, and the first half is pretty hard to get through. The second half is definitely much better, and captures a lot of what the original story is about, and it is visually quite incredible for what it is. Just needed a better script, with a bit more tension built up and plot timeless into the second half. The dialogue just felt a bit forced at times.

I was surprised that Amazon Prime had the version with the corrected subtitles instead of the original version.

Bait pretty good.

The Gambler, I normally like films about gambling, but I've no idea what was meant to be going here.

Lady Bird and The Beguiled (2014). Both really well observed, where the characters actions and emotions match up in a way that makes sense. I prefer the remake of The Beguiled to the Clint Eastwood film (though it is one of his best).

Just finished watching Sinbad, Legend of the Seven Seas. A bunch of r/dndmemes popped up using cuts from the film, and I figured I may as well enjoy some easy entertainment for an hour and a half.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

Call Me By Your Name. Beautiful but a little too slow for my taste.

The Lego Movie. It's very funny, enjoyed watching it.

Galaxy Quest. Fun sci-fi Star Trek parody.

Gone Girl. Great thriller. Looking back I've really enjoyed most of the David Fincher movies I've watched (favourite is probably The Social Network).

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. First wuxia movie I've watched. It begins a little slow, but picks up ~30 min in and was very enjoyable.

Your Name. Good movie, but it didn't live quite up to the hype for me. Felt a little melodramatic at times.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I'd say this is an average Miyazaki movie. Great worldbuilding.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Great adventure movie, one of best Miyazaki's best imo. Score is amazing.

Enola Holmes, released just this week.

I thought it’d be lame to have some romantic sub-plot, but it wasn’t bad at all. I also knew it’d be a lame movie if Tewkesbury didn’t die, so while I was sad when he was shot, I wasn’t too surprised. But then, he actually lived, but it wasn’t lame because he was wearing a corset, which I thought was really cool.

The 2020 version of Mulan is just a shit.

Disney should not only refund the ticket, but also compensate for my mental loss.I suggest you don't watch it. The plot is confused, the settings are casual, and the clothes are ugly and distorted. And no singing. The only good thing I can find is that I am a fan of the heroine. But I gave her the lowest score for all her films, because they were basically bad films.

Blade Runner 2049 I liked it more on watching it a second time. I remember I wasn't keen at first.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri fantastic cast. I liked it, but found the ending a little unsatisfying.

The Friends of Eddie Coyle one of the great crime films of the 70s. Completely unsentimental and bleak. Pretty sure it must be one of Tarantino's influences.
