I watched Venom, maybe I just had very low expectations but I actually really enjoyed it, sure it could have been a little tighter but I liked Ug Venom voice.

Despicable Me 3 a bit of a let down, all too saccharine. Shame the timing was not right for a Despicable #Me Too - all that sexual harassment in the world of super villains.

Parasite. I get it now, compared to the rest of the Oscar nominees, that was the best. Also, not what I expected, but I didn't actually look into the movie that much, so just assuming it was going to be a different movie base on the name alone.

End of Watch. Excellent movie. I really liked how they portrayed the contrast between the police work and the officers’ personal lives, and the relationship between Pena and Gyllenhaal’s characters.

Force Majeure I hated it and ended up switching it off half way through. Damned if I could see anything comical about it, and I don't enjoy watching people arguing.

Drive. It was a lot weirder than I thought it would be and I feel the internet (specifically 4chan) overhypes it a bit but it was a pretty decent movie otherwise.

In theaters before they were closed, The Hunt.

It's basically first draft jokes about conservatives and liberals as if they were written by the hackiest NSG denizens stapled on to a not particularly suspenseful manhunt movie. Betty Gilpin so tragically outperformed everyone else it's such a waste of a good performance. Just dumb, living off controversy.

While shletered up I finally got Amazon Prime, I've been jamming old Hot Rod exploitation movies. My favorite is still Dragstrip Girl which contains almost no dragstrips. It does at least contain a woman hot rodder at its center. Hot Rod Girl is about the boyfriend of the titular Hot Rod Girl who drives her T-Bird like, once. In a drag race against a Jaguar XK120. It does include Chuck Connors of RIfleman fame and the guy who would end up playing The Riddler on the Batman tv series.

I keep forgetting the name, but I also watched a British movie where a guy in an MG TD wins a 4 day rally to save his gas station while the evil real estate speculator tries to kill him and his kids during the race. But it's supposed to be light hearted.

The Roadracers was cool but mostly because of all the sports car racing porn like Old Yaller Mk 1 being featured in the first race. Plus the theme song is awesome.

I nodded off at the beginning of Born to Speed about midget racers in 1947, so I'll have to try that again.

Finally got around to seeing Ghost World. Wish I had seen it when it came out since it was such a product of its time, so seeing it now just made me nostalgic.

Stuck inside self isolating so I rewatched Lost Boys. It is just so enjoyably of its time, a great theme tune, it's nothing profound but it is a lot of fun still.

Finally watched the Dark Phoenix.

A great lesson in how to take a good story and make it blah.

Story? Meh. Character engagement? Meh.

I would have been pissed to have paid theater prices for this.

Over the past year, I've been trying to expand my horizons with regard to the types of sci-fi I watch, so I recently saw Back to the Future Part II. I saw the original movie a few months ago with friends.

I feel that the original stood on its own, and a sequel was not really necessary. That said, Part II was as good a sequel as was possible given the source material. The time travel mechanics are still interesting, the story is engaging, the alternate universe version of Biff Tannen is a good villain if not a particularly deep one, and the directing is almost as good as the original. But it didn't really justify the need for Back to the Future to become a trilogy, in my opinion.
