I just finished re-watching the first Sicario film; and since the new one's opening today, I might go see it later with friends. If not today, then sometime this weekend.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Very enjoyable, I actually liked it more than Wes Anderson's newer movie Isle of Dogs.

Saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom yesterday. It was great. Without spoiling anything, I will only say that the movie is darker and at times creepier than I expected, even by the standards of the franchise.

Green Room, good thriller/survival horror with added Patrick Stewart. Same Director as Blue Ruin, I think they are rather good.

The Beguiled (2017). Unusually for Coppola, the film combines coherence with her visual style and stubborn insistence on interpreting the material for viewers as little as possible. Quite good.

I know this is an old comment, but I actually thought "The Colony"/"Colonia" was okay when I saw it a couple of weeks ago. For the most part. I found it hard to believe the Hollywood-style ending, though (I know they were betrayed, I just didn't find the way it was shown as believable). But I did find the actor who played the cult leader -- I forget his name right now -- suitably creepy in the part.

Frieden-und Freudenland wrote:Singing in the Rain (1952)

That's a classic. I love that one.

Personally, the last film I watched was the French film "Blame It On Fidel" (2006), which is told from the perspective of a young girl who's been living a comfortable life in early 1970s Paris when her parents become political activists. I thought it was a rather good, but quiet, film about social and personal change.

A Quiet Place.

Good movie, enjoyed it a lot, though there was always something i wondered the whole time, well two things really

Do these aliens employ any time of aircraft, heavy weapons or vehicles of any kind to match the sheer firepower of some of the stuff human armies use? I get they are fast as fuck, have great hearing and razor sharp claws, but surely aircraft and drones could take them out with strikes if you lure them somewhere with loud enough noise. Though i get that this is over a year since they invaded, so maybe they had numbers on their end too.

Also, if a loud enough noise on a certain frequency can disorient them like that, surely someone else would have figured that out and tried to employ it against them to help the military?
