Alien

Kind of... underwhelming considering that the xenomorph didn't have much screen time. Still good.

My god, Beauty and the Beast made a $170,000,000 opening? And I never had any interest...And this is why Disney can get away with being lazy and just making all their movies live action instead of, you know, coming up with something new.

*Cries inside at Logan only getting a $80,000,000 opening in comparison*

Too Late for Tears (1949), with Lizabeth Scott, Arthur Kennedy, Dan Duryea, and Don DeFore. A married couple are driving along a back road when someone in a passing car throws a bag full of cash into the backseat of their car, and the wife is determined to do whatever it takes to keep the money.

An excellent film noir, I was completely riveted!

Logan. It was possibly the best comic book movie I've seen, probably because it felt less like a superhero story and more like a post-apocalyptic Western.

It was one of my favorites, too. I usually don't like comic book movies.

Silence (2016). I was definitely hopeful for this one, but still blown way. A total tour de force, and easily Scorsese's best film in years.

Kong: Skull Island

I'd give it a 3/5 even though I already knew I wasn't gonna like it.

I tried to watch The Sting but I almost fell asleep before I could get halfway through it. I don't like those movies where many of the characters look like each other and I don't know their names. I didn't care for the characters and wasn't interested in the plot. I guess it's just not my kind of movie.

Power Rangers.

Wow that was a surprise. What an awesome movie, loved how it seemed to double down on what a power ranger should be, lots of fun, whilst having great characters actually had real emotional Investment.

If anyone else has seen it, do they know the name of one of the songs? I don't know what it's called, but I do remember it had the line 'life is like a motion picture'.

Tried watching Fury, but the dialogue sounded like incoherent mumbling. So I turned on subtitles, but they weren't in synch so kept pre-empting the action, robbing the film of any surprise. Got so bored during the last hour I zoned out. Massively over-rated for a rather pedestrian war film.

Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch-
I quite enjoyed it. It wasn't great, but wasn't horrible either. I thought it was a fun and enjoyable film. I would rate it 3.5/5. Unfortunately, I only got the standard version, I'll have to try and track down the extended cut.

Coincidentally, in the UK, it came out today on April Fool's day. I might make it an annual tradition.

I like to watch JW a few times a year, because it's my favourite film. Excellent all round, would recommend.

High Rise. Pretty smart social satire, director clearly enjoying the unending stream of extra debauchery. Tom Hiddleston is fine, Luke Evans steals the show.
