I've recently seen Rise and Fall of Idi Amin (1981). It is most definitely dated, a bit corny, and the pacing and etc. is all screwed up, but the sheer amount of gore and brutality depicted is about right. I can't praise that aspect of it enough. This film does more or less, satisfactorily document Idi Amin's entire reign in Uganda. What a great show, bravo!

His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular- managed to single handedly turn a relatively prosperous Uganda into a basket case in tanking its economy with bad decisions and got himself overthrown by invading Tanzania and not having been militarily prepared for a counter invasion which saw Tanzania capture Uganda's capital and forced Idi Amin into permanent exile.

Unearthly Stranger, a black and white British sci-fi film from 1963. Bit of an unjustly ignored film, much better than I was expecting. Kind of an incel nightmare of attractive alien women murdering male scientists to stop them discovering how to teleport.

Bohemian Rhapsody, but considering how long it took me to remember I guess it didn't make that much of an impression.

After that was Can You Ever Forgive Me, for a movie about a writer it wasn't that bad. I hate stories about writers.

Off to see Overlord because I have A+ or whatever AMC calls it so my standards can be lower. Saving Mid90s for next week I guess.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Outlaw King

Just finished it there on Netflix, Good movie, i enjoyed it.

Biggest issue i had was the movie felt very fast, and that a good chunk of stuff felt cut out and as such some characters were not fully developed as a result, though i believe that is the case as i think the director did a re edit after its premier, so if it ever happens i would like to see an extended version. Other that that, good cast, good action, production quality was pretty good, a few dodgy bits of cgi but other than that fine, looked quite practical for the most part.

School of Rock.

Being a fan of metal and Jack Black, I found the film enjoyable.

Bohemian Rhapsody. It's an entertaining movie, as usual it's great to listen to the songs, and Rami Malek did great as Freddie, but I can't help but feel like they pretty much skirted around Freddie's personal life and didn't really explore it in depth, and the movie could have benefited from more scenes centered on the other band members and Freddie's relationship with his family and lovers.

Crimes of Grindelwald.

Looked good but the story was cluttered.

Queen

It's one of those movies were I walked out of the theater fairly satisfied, but as I think back realize I like it far far less than I thought I did. Very flawed flick, though decent all around.

Loving Vincent

The art style is incredibly good, but the plot is pretty much just Van Gogh's life thrown into a Citizen Kane-like structure. Still worth the watch doe.
Comrades, your city is for the present occupied by the Revolutionary Black Army. This army does not serve any political party, any power, any dictatorship. On the contrary, it seeks to free the region of all political power. The Revolutionary Army does not therefore represent any authority. The freedom of the peasants and the workers belongs to themselves, and should not suffer any restriction.

Yeah, finding out a lot of it is made up kind of ruined it for me. I still like it a little if only for the music that I quietly sang along with.
