That glorious, wonderful moment when you find a binary Earth-like/terraforming candidate pair orbiting a neutron star.

It doesn't do a whole lot, but the Thomas Was Alone soundtrack is a decent little soundtrack.

You know, thinking about it right now, none of us are talking about Black Ops 3.

I mean, I guess after the lemon that was AW (and most in the series before it) nobody is particularly excited.

But if maps are made in which using the wall slide feature showcased in the multiplayer reveal, then I think this might (might) be a CoD worth picking up.

Goddamn literally all that needs to happen is dedicated servers and there will be an eruption of PC purchases.

I wonder how much money Activision was being paid to not allow development studios to add dedicated servers.

Rest in peace, Iwata. You were a big part of my childhood, and also to many others around the world.

Yep. Quite close to human space, too.

Also, Wisc, your mention of a terraformable around a neutron star reminds me of a system. HIP 63835. You will not regret visiting that place, I promise you.

I've already heard about that system, TYVM, and it's on my bucket list. At the very end of it, in fact.

I do love the Witcher 2 so much. My future dorm mate is wanting to get 3 on the PS4 so I've set out to try and finish two before hand and already I've had more fun than most other RPGs with the side quests alone. I've done almost nothing with the main. In what other game do you help a depressed troll get over the death of his wife and alcoholism, or get drunk and ride whores like horses?

@Bralia and Wis

What's the best ship for exploring?

I currently still in the sidewinder doing a bit of bounty hunting here and there and I recently bought a hauler to do some trading, but the real money seems to be in exploring.

I've heard glowing reviews for the Asp. I was planning on getting one, but between buying the ship and outfitting it it was beyond my price range. I ended up rekitting my Cobra, and it's served me well so far. Here's the loadout I'm using. Once I get back to inhabited space I'll probably dump one each of the AFMUs and heat sinks, if I either won't or can't upgrade to a Diamondback Explorer or an Asp. If you want, though, you can kit a Sidewinder for some tolerable exploration, like so.

A few basics you can remember to outfit anything for exploring:
  • You absolutely always need a fuel scoop.
  • It's possible to get things done with lesser scanners, but if you want to make any decent money in any decent time you'll need an advanced discovery scanner and a detailed surface scanner.
  • Class D components are always the lightest. Use those for anything that's necessary but doesn't contribute to exploration, like thrusters, sensors and power distributors.
  • An A class power plant isn't strictly necessary, but you should use the best one you can afford. They have better heat dissipation, making you less likely to explode, and A class components are light.
  • Same goes for your frame-shift drive. A class isn't necessary, but they're lighter and increase your jump range.

As far as I'm aware, the best exploration ship is the Asp. Provides the largest potential jump range at a reasonable price. Only the Anaconda does better.

Nice, thanks guys. I'll probably keep bounty hunting and small time trading till I can afford more ships. I'm quite keen to get going since Exploration seems to have the most money.

How do you guys explore? Just jump to random systems?
