Just because a few moderators enjoy the thread and the show does not mean that when lines are crossed, folks won't get warned. Even if you WOULD say it -- don't.

2) Keep it on topic. It should always stay in the vicinity of MLP.

3) Your blog. It's not here. Neither is this the place to roleplay your fantasies.

4) Don't feed/taunt the trolls. Report them.

5) Don't taunt each other.

The movie started out promisingly enough but then took a nosedive after the Plot Mandated Friendship Failure, where Twilight suddenly forgets that shes the Princess of Friendship and suddenly blows up at Pinkie for no real reason other than 'lol gotta have conflict'

Also what the fuck was up with Pinkie in this Movie? Did she have a lobotomy or something? It's like the staff wanted to attract more general audiences so went with the stereotypical 'LOL PARTY!' characterisation.

The rest of the characters might as well have been cardboard cutouts for all the contributions they made to the fucking story.

Speaking of under developed characters, the Storm King was hardly in it at all and when he was he was like a more obnoxious version of Hades. Grubber was a total non entity. Tempest was basically Emo Starlight.

The only mildly interesting things were the pirate parrots, who got barely any screen time and the seaponies/hippogriffs who also got hardly any screen time.

Bleh.

Well hi there, other person with common sense. I thought the exact same thing.

Tap dancing Christ, that movie was abysmal. Where to begin...

They made Pinkie Pie functionally retarded all movie to set-up the cliche third act conflict.
They made Twilight suddenly a bitch who was all "I don't need friends like you!" You know, despite her being the PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP
The other four were basically window dressing the whole fucking movie. Especially Fluttershy, who got all of 5 lines and acted like she was from season 1.
Tempest was the blandest fucking villain since Sombra. "Ooh, I'm edgy with a broken horn and I speak in a whisper". I pegged her fucking backstory from her first scene.
Storm King barely nets mentioning.
The cadre of shitty guest characters even DeviantArt would shake its head at. Especially the terrible design of the Hippogriffs.
"Hey, she fixed a button on my jacket. We're friends now!"
The typical redemption crap.
The songs sucked.
Sia is a tonedeaf annoyance.

Fuck that movie. This premiere better be good for that 90 minutes of torture.

I didn't like the animation, either. It made my eyes hurt when I saw it in theaters.

So, in Fake It Til You Make It Fluttershy tries to overcome her lack of confidence by playing a character, but she overdoes it and the character turns out to be kind of mean. Hm.

But those few points are what separates show Pinkie (Goofy as fuck, party happy and helpful) from movie Pinke (A braying moron who exists to create the old third act conflict cliche, and nearly gets them kidnapped/killed several times.)

Me too, I liked the movie.

And honestly pinkie wasn't dumb. I saw the movie twice and I don't know where this criticism comes from TBH.

But other then that, the movie was really really fun.

Great soundtrack, supreme animation, lots of great moments, it's really a fun upbeat movie that I like.

The problem is that Pinkie isn’t even stupid; she’s just absentminded—she’s actually usually very aware of what’s really going on. Even I raised an eyebrow when she drew on the map, and I thought her characterization was overall fair.

I think it’s important to have more continuity when judging individual episodes, because TV shows can better convey character development and make a point of it. But movies, even those based on TV shows, can get away with more because it may be the first entry point for the viewer to a franchise, more than any individual episode.

But now that the movie is officially canon against the show, I think many of the complaints others have are even more salient.
