So today we get "Baby Cakes 2: Magic Beargaloo." It is, of course, especially appropriate that Twilight was the center of the episode here, as in "Baby Cakes" she insinuated that Pinkie didn't have what it took to handle the responsibilities of being a babysitter. (And is of course no surprise that Twilight makes a stop to Sugarcube Corner where we can see "ordinary" talented babies pitted against an ultra-powerful alicorn baby.) Well, as it turns out, not even Princess Twilight Sparkle is immune to the Dunning-Kruger effect (though to her credit, she wasn't totally unaware of her limitations). Of course, here the situation is a near converse: while Pinkie wanted to play with the Cake twins too much to the near exclusion of the more unsavory responsibilities, Twilight tried to juggle too much external responsibilities to the detriment of really having good playtime with Flurry Heart.

Like last week in "All Bottled Up," we also had something of a low-key subplot in Princess Cadence and Shining Armor's trip to the art expo of an old friend. This one, however, was better integrated to the main plot--Cadence and Shining's constant reminders of their daughter likely made them worried that something might have been going wrong with Twilight, and they too have learn not to be too hasty in delegating their responsibilities (or even planning to shirk them on a whim in the first place). Maybe next time Curiously enough, it is also in part based on a meta-joke, one considerably more subtle and less forced: Twilight and Spike's confusion over Shining's "you remember Spearhead, right?" hearkens to what many people likely thought about Twilight suddenly having a new brother that was just about to get married.

Perhaps Cadence and Shining Armor's lesson should have gone to Twilight as well--from all appearances, it looked like she agreed to visit the hospital on the fly, which seems to be a little inconsistent with her planning character. Of course, a pox breakout isn't something you can plan for, but given the other things that were apparently on her schedule for the day that never seemed to be fully developed, you'd think she'd already think twice about inserting something in on the fly. Curiously enough, Twilight's closet of presents seems to suggest that she was anticipating Flurry Heart's visit eventually.

Spike, as usual when Twilight is at the center of the action, takes the role as the voice of reason. He still seemed a bit less insistent against Twilight's decisions than I expected, though, but of course he's concerned with getting the tasks done too. I found it interesting that in spite of his role here they also managed to make him the butt of a joke, one actually quite amusing--namely, his accidental popping of the balloon when trying to make up for Flurry's Solomonic compromise (which of course failed by not understanding the point of such).

Hay, if it's in a museum, it's art, even if it's a trash can.

Well-integrated callbacks, tasteful jokes, and altogether warm and fuzzy feelings make me want to plan for next week, if exam study doesn't already overtake me.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

I liked all three recent episodes...

Celestial Advice: An okay season openinger. Nothing much to write home about except it being the first one-parter season premier without a big bad. 8.5/10

All Bottled Up: A good episode about controlling anger. I find the b-plot's song quite humorous. 8.5/10

A Flurry of Emotions: A better and cuter version of Baby Cakes. Though I must ask, how old should the twins be at this point? If anything they should at least be toddlers, right? 8.5/10

So the latest episode was: Twilight babysits but can't handle it. *yawn* But the highlight for me was the parody of present day art exhibits. It demonstrated perfectly how people make worthless trash and call it art these days.

Have they been altering/adding new walk cycles? Some of the background ponies at the party in the first new episode were moving a bit oddly, I thought.

There were a couple ponies, mayor mare and some stallion iirc, at Starlight's graduation in the background that I thought looked more like they were walking sideways than forward.

I looked it up. https://youtu.be/7oVqSWhjvbE at 3:10. What are their legs doing? Crabwalk ponies? Why is the hind leg going past where the foreleg is planted?

It looks like they may have tried to put side-view walk cycle legs on a 3/4 view body? If the bodies were side view, the longer torso would cause the hooves to fall in the proper places. But with the torso foreshortened and the legs attaching closer to each other, the stride of the hind legs overlaps the fronts.
