I can't get into that animation style at all, hurts my eyes. Its far too 3D for my tastes, and not even the good sort of 3D like some Star Wars series have. Its yuck to me, so I'll just be passing over that one.

I think the 3D animation is just for the movie, and then they'll go 2D for the actual series. However, I do worry that it'll be the cheap looking 2D animation.

To me it’s neither, I think they’re more some sort of genetic modification, but not a distinct race, think RD’s batpony-like features in “The Cutie Re-Mark” (which of course aired after this interview).

Supposedly they’re not going to explain how Equestria got there in the movie, but they might during the series. I do kind of hope there is at least some hint, as Sunny’s motives would seem a bit hollow and naïve if not placed in a larger context.

I think it's fine, it was a little wonky going from 2D to 3D but it's actually not that different in design, it's quite conservative relatively speaking. The Gap between G4/FiM and G3 and prior generations are bigger than what is between FiM/G4 and G5 new generation. In terms of looks however, it still works with the same lore, especially since the fanbase really locked that in by taking the franchise to new heights of popularity.

I'm excited to see this, especially since I finally finished season nine of FiM yesterday and I will have to say that it was the perfect ending. I'd like to see more of them but I think that story is told.

I saw the movie this morning, and I have thoughts so, it's positive. Also G5 spoilers read at your own risk

Sunny is definitely the protagonist we needed, she's perfect for the role. Izzy is best pony, I am of course biaseed towards unicorns but who can blame me. She's probably the Sunny of Bridlewood, especially since she was touched by the message Sunny sent out when she was younger. I'm glad to see that. Sunny's Dad, Argyle. The movie raises questions on who was he. I wonder if he has some connections to the mane six in a way? Like some distant descendant maybe or was a librarian related to one? It's not relevant to the plot and flow but if they make a series out of this, I'd love to hear more about him and his story, maybe then we can get an explanation The Pegasus characters, Zipp and Pipp are definitely fun, and show how MLP keeps up with the zeitgeist. Hitch maybe a cop but he did basically quit or at least, was the exception, unlike Sprout, who clearly was the power hungry bastard turned villain but there really isn't a single villain but hatred and division. It shows that anypony can be bad. I heard criticisms that the movie didn't explain why the magic ran out, but it didn't need to because it already was explained, even when looking at FiM especially in season nine, when Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow come back because of Grogar (Season 9 spoiler: is discord trying to give Twilight a triumph) saw how easy it was to divide the ponies against each other.

The magic is gone because friendship is gone, no friendship means no magic.

Other thoughts: the songs were quite good, it definitely had a more broadway musical upbeat to most of them, especially with Izzy's glowup song which felt like it was from Hairspray a little bit, (We got the beat inspired perhaps?) and it shows that the craft evolves and changes. If they do a series I hope they keep this up.

I also think Izzy and Sunny are more than friends if you know what I mean. They definitely have that, but I don't think there needs to be romance in it, let's just leave it to fan shippers.

How has Equestria change? I know Canterlot has been replaced by Zephyr Heights, and if the pegasi lost the ability to fly, that means they cannot inhabit cities like Cloudsdale anymore, which is definitely most likely abandoned. Maretime Bay seems new and so does Bridlewood, but maybe the old Ponyville is somehwere between them, I mean there seemed to be a lot of crystals there and perhaps the Everfree Forest became the Bridlewood? It's possible, though some things have regressed like rail lines, then again it would a world without friendship and magic is basically Post-Apocalyptic.

Overall, Great Movie and I am so excited for what they can with G5 MLP!
