It is the supreme irony that the spinoff has way better music. I watched every season of FiM, and liked maybe 3 songs. EQG? I can bop to that whole soundtrack.

I’ve only watched a small sliver of EQG and I must agree the music is often superior. I’m not sure how...

Which 3 would those be?

That one Discord sang when he was sick, Better Way To Be Bad (Cause who doesn't love a good villain song?) and the last one.

No this day aria? Eh, you're entitled to your own opinion.

Does anyone know if Spike will be G5? I sure hope so, he was in G1 and G3 so I sure hope we see him again.

If you're 28 now, how young were you when you started watching the show?

I was 15 when I started to watch it, and so it helped me embrace the feminine in me.

This series has been out since the 80s! And it continued into the 90s and early 2000s lol

I also find it really cringe worth now, what with all the weird incels, neckbeards and all around Reddit niceguys trying to sexualize a show made for little girls.

It's creepy asf

Also I have nothing against casual adults, who enjoy the show; in a non creepy way but still at the end of the day, it's a show designed for children.

So... It should be expected things are nonsensical in a show meant for children haha That's just my two cents.

Boy, would you have hated these threads in the heyday of this show then. We used to have a booming TG based smut trade before the mods told us to knock it off.

The franchise has been out since the 80s, the various TV shows have their own eras. The current show, Friendship is Magic, has been out since 2010.

*shrug* I'm not into the sexual side of the fandom, but I don't think it's necessarily creepy (though it definitely has its horrific, absolutely creepy parts). The way I see it, the sexual side of just about any fandom (especially cartoons) is one of those things where you're not going to get it unless you're already acclimated to the style and culture of the show in general, if that makes sense. When people get used to and comfortable with something, it becomes easier for them to project a wider variety of the human experience onto that something, because at that point they're not just seeing it for its surface elements (color scheme, art style, tone, intended audience, etc.) but for what they see as the more fundamentally relatable, "human" aspects of it. It's easy to be baffled when you're a casual onlooker and all you really know about Twilight Sparkle is, "it's purple and pink unicorn princess that reads a lot," as opposed to a long-time watcher who, has not only acquired a taste for the visual style of the show, but has come to see Twilight as a more complex representation of a person and thus possessing more possibility for various perspectives and interpretations.

Like I said, I'm not into it, but I've been around enough different fandoms to kind of piece together what the thought process behind this stuff is. I do think the MLP fandom tends to get a disproportionately bad rep in some regards, since they're really not doing anything new or unusual, but then again a lot of them haven't exactly helped the situation either by responding to such criticism with diving head-first into the "proud pervert" routine.

Again, how old were you when you started getting into the franchise? 4? 6? 9? What qualifies as a little girl?

I wouldn't consider it a 'culture', it's a cartoon for kids haha And I don't see any deeper meaning behind it either. Also it is very creepy, how children's cartoons are sexualized. Because again it's a cartoon for kids. It deals with the normal values of life, shows how cartoon characters deal with that and little kids are able to interpret those lessons, in a simpler way.

It's easier for children to understand.

Well the 82-92 MLP line ended, when I was only one. Then it restarted when I was 6; that was 1997. And 4, 6, 9 are considered being a little girl lol

I do enjoy the show and watch it, when I'm feeling nostalgic and others can enjoy too! I'm saying, I just find it silly how some people take it so seriously, how some can be so creepy about it too lol That's all...

Does anyone else think Bonnie Zacherle and/or Lauren Faust might be feeling like this right now about how many MLP Characters there are?

Image Here are the ones who started it all! Multicolored magical horses with icons on their flanks. A toy idea so simple, even I understood it!

Who knew they'd multiply the way they did? I might as well have created a bunch'a rabbits!
