Hmm...I could swear there was one you didn't like several seasons ago, but I don't care enough to to try arguing something this pointless, so I'll just take your word for it.

The only one that comes to mind is the one where the Changelings all became good. But that episode wasn't really about him.

Magic ponies do lots of stuff real horses cannot. Like grip thingthings with their hooves and rotate their limbs to gesture in a humanlike manner (shrugs come to mind).
But yes, irl horses have very one-way digestive tracts so they don't puke or even burp so a bad enough case of gas can potentially kill them if it doesn't pass through the system quickly enough.
Giant stomp beasts are incredibly fragile.

Picked up three of those "Royal Family" blind boxes at the Drug store. Pulled two Spikes and a Cadence (which I already had). Spike and Cadence are both black in this set for some reason, so I think I'll be repainting one of each for funsies.

It really went out of its way to make this a remake of "Secrets of My Excess," to at least clear up what dragon puberty is not. It confirms the common theory that greed-induced growth is not normal (though still doesn't quite explain how it works in the context of dragon culture), and explains why every other dragon we have seen does have wings. And here we have delivered a more practical moral than the Space Whale Aesop in SoME, and here the world-building is even more relevant to the ultimate moral, given the tradition in dragon culture to kick out molting dragons out.

Of course, all of Spike's fears would have been allayed if Smolder had explained to Spike the whole process, rather than just describing the symptoms and the booting out of the house. Or at least I think--dragons do have a community, so it's not as if dragons leave their children out into the wilderness once they grow up and never see them again, so it's odd that Smolder didn't then clarify that eventually a molting dragon would be welcomed back. On the other hoof dragons are still ultimately an ultra-individualistic culture (and Ember seems less enthusiastic than, say, Thorax as to changelings, in adopting a new social paradigm for her people), so perhaps Smolder took for granted that being kicked out was an integral part of growing up. In this way the episode also is a partial remake of "Dragon Quest," removing out its sexist implications but still retaining the moral that it is who you are around that makes one herself and not just what she inherently is. Still, it's a slight disappointment that Smolder does not reappear at the end to even congratulate Spike on his new wings, as it would have been a good opportunity for her to learn something to take back to the Dragon Lands. Also, Twilight, who should know a lot about dragons by now because of her letter with Ember, could have also been a bit more clear in explaining what Spike is going through, but then again the subject might have never come up.

One of the more interesting aspects of world-building here was the idea that dragons are not in fact on the top of the food chain--an extraordinary idea given that mythology since the beginning of time has portrayed them as apex predators--even in my quick internet research nothing suggests that rocs pick up dragons for food. One wonders if this is why dragons pre-Ember still had a more or less informal community. (As a side note, the "wild" dragons of Season 1 were all isolated creatures. One wonders if the smell of these dragons were bad enough that the rest of the dragon community never wanted to do anything with them anymore, but of course no one ever mentioned anything about the smell of a dragon in "Dragonshy" or "Owl's Well that Ends Well.")

Ultimately it was a good bit of fun. I'll admit I too was at first a bit confused at the mention of rocs so that was a good chuckle to find out that Smolder wasn't talking about stones.
