We've seen pretty much all of the mane six's parents; Rarity's, Twilight's, Pinkie's, the shooting stars and framed photo for AJ's dead parents, and even Rainbow's dad in a flashback; but we have never heard anything about Fluttershy's parents. There could be a potentially excellent episode revolving around a trip she makes (perhaps with Twilight?) to reconcile with them after her long time away/on the ground, if, for example, they turn out to be utter assholes/snobs that totally ignored their daughter, leaving her alone as an only child and shipping her off to flight camp, which could explain her shyness, reliance on animals for companionship, and poor flying (no one to show her how as a filly).

Hmm... sounds like a variant on "Amending Fences", only with family and more real guilt.
Word on the street though is that Fluttershy's getting a brother in an upcoming episode.
