I haven't watched all the episodes yet, but the whole Spike simping for rarity thing rubs me the wrong way. He worships the ground she walks on and she never does anything to curb this or steer him the right direction, if anything she takes advantage of his feelings for her. I never understood that.

That is perhaps the primary reason for why Rarity will never go for Spike, (aside from how she's more into unicorns and he's a dragon). She wants a Chad and he ain't it. Maybe I'll find a fanfic where Spike discovers his MGTOW destiny if not write one. There was one later episode where Spike didn't care too much about what Rarity wanted or was doing anymore (and it bothered her). Its too bad it was just for one episode though.

I'd kind of expect Spike to simp on Rarity, mostly because Rarity is the fashion pony, and in kids shows people like these are usually on the more cute/beautiful side of the spectrum.

Spike's incessant simping for Rarity my turn Rarity off, but maybe another reason why Rarity ain't really into Spike as much is because like Spike is usually messy and dirty dragon, which does not go well with Rarity's bling and hygiene cleanliness and shit. Also isn't Spike like hella young?

They have an age gap, but its not impossible to overcome if Spike were an adult and he didn't mind going for an older lady. Usually though, its the opposite in real life where an older guy is far more able to bag a younger woman because he has money or sufficient game than vice versa. An older lady typically is really only able to ever get a younger guy if he's a sugar baby, asides from if she's a skilled Cougar who can just make such a relationship happen anyways, because women have a biological clock they're running against to more of an extent than is the case for men broadly speaking.

So long as Spike is still a minor and Rarity an adult though, there isn't much potential for it to go anywhere in that it just isn't socially accepted. There are some other incompatibilities but I'm only commenting on the age aspect.

That is why it really was for the best if Spike just let Rarity go and that should've been a permanent change in my view, for both their sakes.

So basically G5 is the pony equivalent of a depressing post-poc world where modern technology has been wiped out and society has regressed into Jim Crow. Great. Because if there's really one thing G4 ought to have closed with, it's the knowledge that this nice little quasi-utopian society eventually falls to shit in spite of all the work the various characters have put into keeping it alive.

I don't like the style. It's not incompetent, but it is very generic. I'm not one of those animation snobs with a grudge against CGI, but it really is frustrating how everything is becoming so homogenized.

But hey, if there's one thing we've learned, it's that bronies will swallow anything, no matter how stupid or bad, as long as it's "cute." I hope the kids get something out of it, but it's not for me.

The entire basis of your society (magic) just disappears one day, you've got to rework everything you know about running a civilization (these creatures had their weather and farming under their control and now they're just slaves to the elements), and your neighbors and friends all start slowly becoming radicalized into racism out of frustration over the years? What the actual fuck, Hasbro? If I wanted that story, I would go watch "The Handmaid's Tale," not MLP.

G5 looks interesting, though I haven't picked up since like season 6 or 7? I still have not seen seasons 8 or 9.

WHy does the synopsis of the new G5 thing look like half the fanfiction plots I've wrote in my past like two years. What fucking happened to society? Did the Mane 6 (without Twilight) get thrown into a dating scandal and banished from Equestria forever? (I'd assume that's how the butterfly effect starts) Did Twilight decide to screw it and end life? How does magic disappear? Did Celestia go into a manic frenzy and fuck up the world?

There's too many plotholes in this story, considering it happens in the same universe as G4. There has to either be a long time gap from G4 to G5, or something horrid happened behind the scenes. I'll just wait until it actually airs. Maybe there's some kind of backstory to it.

Also I'm not really a big fan of the new dystopia setting. It's just... bland. As with the plotholes I've mentioned a dystopian setting seems like an overdone concept in animation, especially if the script doesn't turn out to be good or so. But hey, at least the animation's 3D now.

You aren't missing anything. Aside from setting up the new species friendship deal, you can skip it...and I advise you do, because it's terrible.
