So am I. Go watch s8 ep 12 again. Tell me if there is anything that suggests she has a dark side. They deliberately played the twist villain trope painfully straight.

Wait until “What Lies Beneath.”

The way I interpret that episode, there is something there that completely broke her, which can imply that she always did have a dark side.

I can agree with that.

Really? The fun vampire-spoof episode, with a good song and a nice moral about compromise, is not just a bad (MW) episode but one of the worst in the series? Not "Putting Your Hoof Down", "Dragon Quest" or "Spike at Your Service"? I can't believe it.

Wonderbolts academy was also a good Merriwether Williams Episode (IMO).

The compromise moral in “Bats!” is probably the one situation that realistically there should have been no compromise.
Or at least, it unfairly minimized the bat’s harm to Sweet Apple Acres.

Cozy Glow was played so absurdly sweet and so absurdly 'innocent' and had such an absurdly cutesy design that it stood out. Alarms went off for me immediately.

Tokuopolis wrote:If one was to divide the TV series into eras, how would you arrange it?

Here's how I'd do it:
Seasons 1 and 2: The Lauren Faust era when she was involved as an Executive producer or Consulting producer
Seasons 3 and 4: The Princess Twilight Era where Twilight becomes a princess and has to learn the responsibilities of her newfound power. (This can also be the Hub Era, as these were the last two series to air on the Hub Network incarnation before the channel became discovery family).
Seasons 5, 6 and 7: The Starlight Glimmer era/storyline where her character arc is the linking thread between most episodes. They even added her to the intro in season 6.
Seasons 8 and 9: The School era with the School of Friendship

Actually, I just realised these are more like Geological Periods. There would be two eras, the Hub Era (s1-s4) and the Discovery family era (s5-s9). Seasons 1 and 2 would be the Faust period etc.

I rewatched the 2nd Spongebob Movie again the other day. It was still pretty good, and it made me think about how Power Ponies could have been improved. I still like the episode but they could have given the characters superpowers they'd want given their personalities and day jobs.

Twilight as Masked Matter-Horn (although Twilight could also be good as a gadgeteer/power armor user like Batman or Iron Man), Spike as Humdrum (an ersatz Robin) and Rainbow Dash as Zapp (an ersatz Storm/Thor) are still good (although Rainbow Dash might be better as a sports-themed vigilante a la Casey Jones from TMNT, TBH).

Rarity would be good as an Emma Frost type, able to turn into living diamond. Fluttershy would be good as a beast boy type, able to shape-shift into any other animal. Applejack would be good as a Poison Ivy type with control over plants. Pinkie Pie would be good as a Sugar-kinetic like Patrick Controlled Ice creams in the movie (but all types of sweet treats and/or baked goods) or a deadpool type heroine.

Is it just me or does Pixar's Onward take minor inspirations from FIM & EQG? The elves resemble EQG humans and the manticore looks like the one from the FIM pilot.

It’s just you. Candy-colored humans at least have been around forever, and I’m sure the manticore design is already very common.

Hmm...I guess it's also the whole modern-day-ish suburban, slice-of-life universe but with fantasy creatures Aspect and the bright colour pallet that made me think they were similar

The 1st one of this stop-motion shorts to NOT feature Pinkie Pie (that's gotta mean something right?)

I just saw some clips of Ultimate Book of Spells (a TV show I used to watch when I was a kid) and realised how similar Cathy Weseluck's voice for Verne is for her voice for Spike.

Speaking of, do you want generation five Spike to be voiced by a man or a woman? While I did enjoy Cathy Weseluck's version of Spike, I have to admit it probably was better that G1 and G3 actually had male actors (Charlie Adler and Brian Drummond, respectively) voice Spike(a Male character). Someone hasn't watched much of the show might think Spike is a girl. Personally, I'd like another male-voiced Spike.

I have a theory about the Changelings; they are not native to Equestria (or whatever the name of the MLP planet is), they are actually extra-terrestrials that moved there. All the other sapient species (Unicorn Ponies, Earth Ponies, Pegasus Ponies, Yaks, Griffons, Hippogriffs/Seaponies, Kirin, Donkeys, Alicorns, Crystal ponies, Saddle Arabians, Buffalo) appear to vertebrates, and most of them have a similar eye shapes and designs, and if they have wings they are birdlike or batlike (Dragons and Bat Ponies), suggesting they all share a common ancestor.

In contrast, the Changelings have monochromatic eyes, insectile wings and armored insect bodies, suggesting they arthropod invertebrates. I'm not sure about the Breezies though, as they look more like the mammalian-esque natives but have insectile wings like Changelings; they could by hybrids.

Nah, that can't be it. But seriously, even The Klugetowners resembled various kinds of vertebrates after all. I just thought it would be cool to see the changelings (like Ocellus and Thorax) travel through space to their homeworld in season 10 or whatever.

Some Warcraft-esque Allied Races for the non-Pony species in S10 or Whatever would be cool, like Sea Dragons or Keythongs

Some of us were in My Little Pony before it was cool (No Joke; Light Yagami's English VA Brad Swaile was Ace in MLP Tales (G1 and a half), whereas most of the other Death Note VAs had their MLP debuts in G3 or FiM)

Does anyone think it was weird of Ms Magazine to describe the G3.5 ponies as more "sexualised" than the 1980s versions when they are actually more infantilised TBH (Bigger heads, wider eyes, open mouths, pigtails etc.)

Ever since I first saw EQG, I always wondered if Flash Sentry was meant to be east Asian. His eye shape indicates he has Epicanthic folds, his hair is dark while his skin is tan (the Orange works as a stylised representation of tanner East Asian skintones) and his dark blue hair could be stylised representation of black hair. His voice actor, Vincent Tong, is Chinese-Canadian.

It's now my headcanon that Flash Sentry is from Mistmane's village.

I think it's stupid when something is automatically considered "sexualized" simply because it gets prettied up a bit. Pretty =/= Sexual. That's a very unhealthy assumption to perpetuate.

Yeah, that's a good point, not to mention you could consider them as simply more stylised (or stylised in a different artstyle) rather than being Sexualised.

I mean, if this article had been written a few years later and they compared Original Candyland Princess Lollypop to the 2013 version, they may have had a point. However, this article came out in 2010.
