Mainstream reviews also have had clickbait and utterly stupid bullshit clams. (see: IGN's "Review")

Friggin' A, the ones I read didn't try to claim that they knew the show. Many of the commenters were right to rip it apart.

Yep.

Another case of IGN being purely bullshit. I will admit that the movie is not perfect, but they use the smallest little flaws that aren't even flaws
all the while posing as "Fans" of the show.

For example the action bit near the end they criticized saying that the show never does acton and only uses friendship and forgiveness.

They must have never seen Season two's finale, Season three's opening, Season fives finale, ect.

Indeed, Pinkie, I could have told you that honesty is the best policy.

Usually the moral of an MLP episode is fairly straightforward and resolved, but this one didn't seem so. It seemed to endorse the view that a lie to maximize happiness is okay so long as the person lied to deserved to be happy because of the lie. And yet, it seemed to tack on "well, you shouldn't lie anyway," as if it was just an afterthought. It was clear that everypony's happiness crashed in the end. It was quite clear why RD kept lying about liking Pinkie's pies, so to make her more sympathetic was not only unnecessary, but really took away from the moral force of the episode's development.

But even though I consider the moral integrity of an episode paramount, everything else about it was more than enough to make up for the mixed signals. Pinkie's investigation recalled elements of "Party of One" and "MMMystery on the Friendship Express," with its hyperbolic suspicions and hypotheses, which were welcome internal allusions. The timing of every joke and turn was perfect, and the characters were in top shape as the best episodes. Though the resolution was fairly predictable as it usually is, it was pure joy to see it develop.

I see the most unusual aspect of this episode is that this was an episode about honesty that didn't center around Applejack or the Apple family. AJ, of course, does figure into the episode, but as secondary, almost becoming the background pony that the fandom jibes at, but with enough of a role to actually seem important.

And it seems the authors are capable of not letting the in-jokes go too far. Despite an obvious opportunity to do so, Soarin' is not depicted as being any more interested in pies than the average pony. It would have been a fun joke, certainly, but only that.

I'm not going to lie, I really liked this one.

The Derpy Democratic Republic Of Herp wrote:Whats everyones thoughts on the movie?

I still haven't seen it yet. Mainstream reviews have confirmed my suspicions about the film in that it seems to have little to attract the adult non-brony, so I'm still a little hesitant to actually see it.

So I have a challenge for everyone here who enjoyed it: You know what I like to see in MLP:FiM (if you've read my episode reviews); why should I go out and see it? Besides the obvious, why should it attract me?

I brought my best friend to see it and he wasn't a brony. hasn't watched a single episode in his life and he really liked the movie. Tbh it's very much like your standard pixar/disney family movie, the only difference is that it's with ponies and takes place in a prior established setting.

I liked it. The story was simple and the main villain quite weak (My villains range from conflicted or evil but nice to psychotic megalomaniac or cold sociopath or cold), but the songs were catchy, some jokes were funny, and I loved the cameos. I was entertained and that's what mattered. 4/5

Now I got midterms to get ready for on Thursday and I need to catch up on season 7.

Secrets and Pies
somepony should kill herself for not loving pies.
"Those who reached my boundary, their seed is not; their hearts and their souls are finished forever and ever. As for those who had assembled before them on the sea, the full flame was their front before the harbour mouths, and a wall of metal upon the shore surrounded them. They were dragged, overturned, and laid low upon the beach; slain and made heaps from stern to bow of their galleys, while all their things were cast upon the water." - Ramesses III., Battle of the Delta

Much as I would love to, I don't have enough money to move anywhere else. I suspect that's the reason anyone besides millionaires bothers to live here: we're all too broke to escape.

I read an opinion somewhere that people were considering One Small Thing a love ballad. And to be honest, I think of worse ships.

Ok, but still spending 7 bucks I think would still be worth it.

Never thought of it that way. It would be a cute ship.

I mostly consider One Small Thing as just a friendship song between Skystar and Pinkie.

My favorite part was knowing that none of the new places, races, or characters will ever be seen or even mentioned in the show.[/s]

On Small Thing catchy AF tho.

Might just be a rumor but: HIppogriffs are possibly in Season 8 I think

Also, Pinkie will probably mention skystar in passing in a later epsode.

Also hell yes One Small Thing was catchy.

I'd kinda rather see more hippocampus-es, but that's just me. Maybe an episode where some want to change back and some don't and there's a big rift and finally they just wind up going their separate ways but foal friends whose parents are on different sides get separated and ~friendship problem~ so the m6 helps the two sides reconcile and respect each other's opinions and whatever. I dunno.

No, all that says, at best, is that the events in the movie are part of the canon timeline. No guarantees of incorporation.

Many have assumed Equestria Girls fits in the show timeline, and we have yet to hear any mention in the show of magic mirrors to parallel universes, Sunset Shimmer, sirens, or (unless you count that one guard in “Three’s a Crowd”) Flash Sentry.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

Equestria Girls is not canon and will never be canon.

But was it a tweet by one of the showrunners? I’ve never seen anyone named “Cobalt Fossil” in the credits. Where did he get that idea from? I don’t see any confirmation there.

As far as I know, no.

But, EQG aside, the fact that this movie contains the actual talking equines means that it's probably going to be in the show and definitely canon.

Ladys and gents, I think I found the weirdest audience on RT review of the MLP movie.

Thanks for giving my kid nightmares! Had the writers of this movie ever MET a 5 year old girl? Scene after scene was so scary and intense. I was in a theater full of screaming, terrified children. About half had to leave! The major theme was "grow up, don't be cute" exactly the opposite of was we came to see. What a disappointment. I feel like the writers should get up at 3am to console my child...

Without spoilers, I will be criticizing this review.

Ok, so when I went to see the movie, there were kids in the theater. None of the kids that where there screamed.

I can think multiple scenes from almost any Pokemon movie that where more "scary and intense" then in this movie.

The theme that you said was in the movie wasn't actually the theme of the movie.

Ether this was a troll review or someone was really really sensitive.
