Speaking of Civilization: Beyond Earth I find the new game too similar to Civilization 5... I mean, I love the new tech web and the affinity, purity, and dominance mechanics, but it feels too much like a re-texture of Civilization 5 with a few new concepts here and there :/

Civ Be was not all that good...I still prefer Civ V.
Neat thread.

Yeah, but Civ. BE is supposed to get another few updates.Lydvelann wrote:
Civilization 5 was amazing... I especially love the ideology and tourism systems introduced in Brave New World, oddly enough, I feel as if Brave New World and Gods and Kings added more additional content and mechanics individually to Civilization 5 alone than Civilization Beyond Earth itself did to the entire series :/

Meh. I sorta feel like Civilization Beyond Earth was half-baked when it was released, I mean, I love the concept but I wish the developers spent more time on developing the game a bit more :/
I did read that they were running out of time and had to rush to finish the game. Personally, the lack of atmosphere especially in comparison to Civ V or Alpha Centauri is the thing that's most off-putting for me and the reason why I won't plan on buying it any time soon.

I started with with civ V, and got Beyond Earth. What I like about Beyond Earth is that you are sorta building your own civ, with it's own tech and virtues. The game play feels a little lacking though... like the real basic military units.
Anyways, in Civ V I like to win via diplomacy. War mongering is fun, but if I do it all the time it gets boring. Diplomacy is a little more interesting for me because my allies can change at any time, and I need to pick my wars carefully or risk losing all my allies because no one likes war mongers. Most of the time, I'm friends with almost anyone so if I go to war with an ally there's usually someone else that gets mad.
Speaking of that, does anyone know how to avoid that if at all?
