Alright I've got to admit I've never gotten the adoration for Peridot that some fans have or the hate for her that Ameri and others have but after watching the most recent episode I understand one side's view a little better. :3

Time to watch the new Gravity Falls and comment there...

On topic now, Steven Universe is like HxH, but magical girls.

Also, sometimes it borders the deconstruction-genre, but it doesn't quite become one. Like, it can have a happy "oh we're magical beings who fight for humanity" and then boom.

Probably because motherly affection from a character as stoic as Garnet is relatively unexpected, and thus tends to be more noteworthy.

Really though, there isn't really a single best "mom" if you think about it. All the CGs have their respective strengths and weaknesses in that particular role for Steven.

That's... a very good point, actually. She therefore has that in common with pretty much every other mom in the show (though the other CGs tended to be similarly dismissive of Steven's claims in those situations).

What

Garnet is the only Gem that is willing to give Steven's ideas a chance, Pearl dismisses him and Amethyst... doesn't really count
