The next episode better have one of the Gems star in it. Why Sadie? Why is Sadie always the subject of every episode not starring the Gems or Steven and Connie?

Well, there's been at least one episode with Jenny / Sour Cream / Buck as the focus, and one with Buck alone, plus a couple around Lars (and at least one without even a trace of Sadie). And don't forget Ronaldo and Peedee (though the Peedee-centric episode also featured Pearl pretty heavily). Really, the number of Sadie-centric episodes doesn't seem particularly high relative to those centering on non-Gem characters.

Nonetheless, this was probably my least favorite episode so far. It might've been decent were it not for the ending, which - to me - felt pretty thoroughly mangled. It was like drinking top-shelf porters and stouts for 68 episodes and then being force-fed Miller Lite.

You can call me...

Kaz.

Pointless MGS references aside, it feels like Sadie has one and a half episodes focused on her every time there's an episode focused on a non-Gem. And I say half because most of the episodes she stars in is with Lars.

That's a funny way of spelling Peridot :)

But yeah, Pearl's neuroticism is absolutely adorable.

Hopefully we get to see more neurotically-clean-freak Pearl in this one. Considering the (supposed) storyboard artist for it is the same person who started the "Bad Pearl" trend, my expectations are at least modestly high.

Anyone wanna tell people why Steven universe is (one of) the greatest modern western animated series on my "Cartoons: Which are the best thread?" (Yes, this is nearly exactly the same as my rainbledon post. :p )

Oh, and another thing Steven universe has in common with power rangers: the crystal gems (and Steven himself) all have unique weapons.

I've always found it odd how the Gems are supposedly the guardians of humanity, yet they seem pretty cold and indifferent toward humans, other than Rose. Especially Pearl who seems to be pretty pessimistic about them in general.

Steven crossdressing made that whole episode worth it imo.

On a serious note I liked it and I was pleasantly surprised that Lars had no part in it. You all are getting overdoses of quality from this show and when it can't deliver that A++ grade material your used to you go through withdrawals.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Here's a reddit post that sums up my feelings on the latest SU episode

"I really enjoyed this episode for a number of reasons. People have already pointed out that Steven rocked the dress without any judgment and I love that.
But I also want to say that I appreciate the overall message of the end of the episode. Sadie was pushed into something and was allowed to give up on it. In other cartoons, her mom or Steven would have apologized but the writers still would have had her do it to show that you should push yourself/do what you're uncomfortable with because it might make you grow or blahblahyaddayaddadisney-esq stuff.
But in this show Sadie was clearly uncomfortable and rather than write her into the usual "She pushed herself out of her comfort zone and went on stage and OMG everyone loved it and Sadie/we all learned a big life lesson about challenging yourself" the crewniverse opted to let her say no and quit. That's HUGE. Her mom backed off, and Steven covered for her. They didn't take the typical way out, as usual, and that's what I love about this show. I think some of that message is being lost because people think this episode is boring filler. I disagree. You just have to read between the lines and see what they were really doing there.
Being able to say no and stop doing something with the support of their friends and family who may or may not have pushed them into it in the first place is, like, I wish more people would see this and understand that message. It's okay to not do something you're not comfortable with, and it's okay as a friend or parent to support your friend or child when they do not want to do something."
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Oh, don't even TRY that excuse. That episode was garbage. I'm not saying every episode has to be awesome as "Jailbreak" or "Cry For Help". But they don't have to be boring, wangsty dreck about a stupid side character either.

I don't give a shit that it was Marceline from Adventure Time. I don't even like Adventure Time anymore. Also, THIS ISN'T ADVENTURE TIME. This is Steven Universe. This episode was a complete waste, and contributed nothing to the show.

I think it was fun and that's enough for me. Not every episode has to make major strides in plot. Adventure Time is actually worse off for focusing on their plot over it's episodic nature near the beginning.

I'm. Not. Saying. That. What I'm saying, is that filler episodes don't have to suck complete ass. Look at the watermelon episode. Filler, but good filler. Hilarious, had the Gems in it, etc. This? More of Sadie's whiny bullcrap, and that's it.

I don't think it sucked though. Ah so that's your problem? It didn't have the gems in it? It developed Sadie and Steven more as characters in my mind and gave us plenty of extra fun tidbits as I mentioned above. Plus the show is currently playing around with themes of motherhood as you can probably deduce from the previous episode meaning it's probably helping to build up an episode centering around Steven/Rose which I'm all for.

Tbh I think you just don't like Sadie as a character which is understandable but you shouldn't let it taint your entire view on an episode.

It didn't develop ANYTHING. It was whiny teenage crap that even the CW would look at and go 'Jeez, take it down a notch'.

Oh, who gives a shit about these 'tidbits'? The supposedly gay couple? Who cares. They're frigging background extras. Steven signing in a skirt? I don't care.
